Will Queen mattress fit?
We are thinking about changing our King mattress for a Queen mattress to give us more room in the bedroom. We measured and our King isn't a true King. The Queen would be about 3 inches longer than the existing mattress. Since the mattress snugs up to the bureau when the slide is closed, we are wondering if we should make the change. Has anyone done this? And if so, how did you compensate for the extra length? We have a 2010 3075RL Montana.

Dick,
I don't know about your model and bed size. We have a 2010 3150RL and we have a queen mattress we swapped out with the factory queen. Ours is one of those high tech foam mattresses and is right at 80" long and fits with no problem.
In our previous 08 2955RL we swapped out the king for the queen above and all we did was cut down the plywood.

Joe & Lucy, I wonder when bedroom slides are out if all the floorplans have the same distance from slide wall to bureau? From slide wall to bureau, we have 106-1/2".

I just measured from the slide wall to the lip on the top of the bureau and it is 107". If I were to take into account the drawer pulls it would probably be 106 1/2".
So I guess I would consider them the same.

Joe and Lucy, thanks so much for going to the trouble of measuring. One more question if we may, do you have a tempurpedic, and thus it scrunches up well?

The mattress we have is a Generic Memory Foam mattress and came with matching pillows. It was made in Canada. It is a Visco-Elastic Memory Foam. We bought it at one of those big furniture stores. The cost was $409. Probably half that of the name brand memory foam mattresses.
The foam is firm and contours to the body and returns to its shape.
The foot end just snugs up to the dresser when the slide is in.

If you google "short queen mattress" you should find some that will fit. We recently changed our factory mattress for a new one that was on sale at CW.

We just got a queen (60 x 80) from bedinabox.com. Got the 11" one with the goosedown cover. Love it.

We changed our King Size out for a standard queen when we purchased our 3400RL. No problems with space at the foot when slide is in. Lots of room around bed when slide is out. We did have to trim each side of the plywood base to match up to the queen mattress.

Thanks all for the replies. We think ours was originally meant for a Queen because the top (near the headboard) is the size of a Queen. The part that lifts up is the size of a King. We're betting the dealer switched it out. We have lots of ideas now and appreciate all the responses.
