Outdoor Step Rugs

On another posting I misspoke because I thought the question was being asked about outdoor steps and it was really the inside steps. Nevertheless, I thought it might be prudent to place pictures of what we have done. These covers have lasted over four years.

This picture is of the steps open.

This picture shows the bottom side of the step.

This is a new piece cover with tie wraps.

That looks really good Orv.
Did you buy the covers with the eyelets already there, or did you have to put them in yourself?
I have been thinking of doing something like that too. I have slipped off the steps more often than I care to remember, and I know one of these days I won't catch myself, and it's gonna hurt .
Maybe I just need to slow down when entering and exiting the trailer.

Lonnie, I bought them that way, but I have done things like this before when we had a stick house. All you need is some indoor/outdoor carpeting, cut it to the size you want and put the grommets in. You can buy a little grommet inserting kit at Wal-Mart.

You're right, slipping on those steps, especially in the morning when they're a little damp, is no fun.

Orv, I purchased a yard of outdoor carpet at Lowes and made my own step covers. I used zip ties to hold them in place and grommets from probably Wal-mart. 4 years now and still don't need replaced yet. Carpet was less than $7. and I made a set for brother-in-laws camper too!

We had the ones sold at CW and they wore out in 7 months. I think that was probably because we must go in and out of our rig at least 20 times/day X 2=40, 365. The front edge of all three wore through that rapidly. I believe you can make your own for less than I paid ($6.00 each).
