water softeners

We are planning on purchasing a water softener for our Montana 3295.
We are considering the one sold at Camping World and another called the "water stick" which is about $200 less expensive. Are there any thoughts about these or other softeners that we should consider? Are there any negatives that I may have missed?

I don't know anything about the cheaper one but we have the one from Camping World and wouldn't be without it.

We have this one, and love that it takes table salt, so we can store very small amounts of salt,

Bill and Helen have to recharge about every 2 to 3 weeks, according to Bill. We have to recharge once a week.

Recharging frequency will depend on how hard the water really is and how much you use. We use a lot, yorkie baths take a lot of water. We do not have a washer and dryer, Bill and Helen do.

Here is a URL

They have a real intersting map showing where water is harder, or not.

As Helen states, would not be without it!

We have the one from Camping World and have found it to be very useful. It uses rock salt or solar salt.
