Fresh Water Flood !

I just got back from a Labor Day trip.We and got really lucky. The fresh water line behind the docking center popped off and started flooding the kitchen floor. We were extremely lucky to have been "home" and heard the pop and Bobbi immediately saw water coming out by the stairs. After securing the park water I took the panel off behind the docking station to find the hose clamp that popped off.(near the pump)
I fixed the immediate problem and found 2 more loose connections using the same hose clamps that caused my flood.
This could have been a LOT worse if we had been out for the day. Also these connections are in an area that cannot be seen without a lot of trouble. I'm thinking that the shroud behind the docking center needs an inspection window cut in it. Needless to say that I'm just a little paranoid about this now.
The park did not have high water pressure. No damage to 5er,just our nerves!

Bill & Bobbi, what model do you have? Not that it probably makes any difference, as those docking stations are all the same...

How well I know the sound of the pop and gushing water inside the trailer. Mine was on the inlet city water line. The tubing is a closed area that was not visible upon inspection and this happened almost a year after I owned the trailer. Never know when a new trap is gonna be sprung.

This is exactly why when I leave my rig I turn off the park water. Works for me.

When they were putting our plumbing together on the assembly line, they took a lunch break and forgot to tighten 56 water connections. Fortunately we were home when the first one let go and we were able to get the water turned off quickly. I like your idea about turning off the park water when you leave, Mike.

We had that area opened up when we first brought the 3400 home to clean up the mess in the Water pump area and had to tighten nearly all the water connections. That area is a must to open up and check for loose connections.

We have a 3400RL delivered 3/06. The docking station is on the newer units and is where most external utilities are hooked up. ie: fresh water, cable tv and the controls for winterizing, black water flush, fresh water waterhose etc.
I'm thinking about putting in an access hatch on the panel hiding the tubing, like I've had on boats that can easily be cut out and installed.

Hi All,

When we first got our rig, we had the same problem. It was 5am and fortunally we were in the rig. It was the proberbrial "Chinees Fire Drill". On close inspection of the clamps, I could see that they were of poor quality. I have since purchased new clamps and changed out the old ones. Three years now and no repeat problem.

I already have a full schedule of things to do to this Montana but due to this thread I've now added another. And it will be a priority.

Hey Steve,
Pop off that White panel where your water pump is and check all those hoses for rubbing points, you can quiet down that pump then, and drill an access hole in that wood panel we couldn't reach, you might be able to fish a wire down in that pump area for the basement power.

My pump is VERY quiet, compared to anything I have experienced in the past. But still want to get in that compartment to check everything. My bad shoulders make it a little difficualt, to say the least...

Just had to fix a leak on ours this past weekend, ours did'nt come with the outside shower but the water lines sure did. they just caped off the lines, I had to take off the panel under the tv and tighten up the caps. Sure glad I was home and saw the drip.

Ozz, it's on my list for this evening. I'll look to see if drilling a hole from there will work. Also I want to see if I can run wires up into the bedroom from there without interfering with the slide - for my indoor propane out indicator. I forgot to show that to you the other day. Also forgot to show you my hitchup level. I guess you and Sue will have to come back.

Our water pump is quiet downstairs but very noisy upstairs which is exactly where we want it to be quiet.

Does anyone happen to know what size the water line is at the pump should I decide to insert a flex hose to help quiet things down?

Mine is very quiet, but yesterday, it started the "machine gun" noise again - then quit. I think if those lines in there are just secured, so they are not moving around, you will have your ultra quiet pump that we have.

I am going to try to find some time in the next few days to pull the shield/box off to assess the situation back there. Don't have to unload too much...

When you are around the water pump check the furnace vent liness(that silver hose.) they were sticky taped to the vents and my skilled craftsman had mine mostly stuck to nothing..a little thing...

I had a heckuva time trying to get that white panel off. There's a trap (from the shower?) at the top of it and, of course, the panel L's down into the dump valve handle area and there's no way I could get it fully out of the way. So I removed things from the basement and crawled in from the other end and wedged my poor body between the partially removed white panel and the lines and wires and hoses. Very awkward. All my water connections were tight. So were the furnace ducts.

I will have to work on quieting the water pump another time.

Ozz, were you thinking to snake the wire through the back pantry wall? There are already wires coming out of there so there must be a false wall at the back of the pantry with some space between that and the basement wall. I could see under the stairs.
