New 2015 3711FL problems.....ugh

Just forfeited my 1st evening of a Labor Day weekend trip after a major kitchen slide out problem. Very frustrating to say the least especially since we have been looking forward to our very 1st trip in the new trailer. The hydraulic kitchen slide had been sliding too firm for my liking, as a matter of fact upon delivery back in July I mentioned my concern on that particular slide to the salesman. I was told by him and I quote, "it may be binding just a little because we are on a slight hill here on the lot, it should be just fine." and to boot I'm 250 miles from the dealer I purchased it from too. All packed up and ready to leave for the weekend today teeth started sheering off from underneath the kitchen slide gears when closing it up. Once a couple teeth had sheered off the gear the slide would no longer slide in all the way and seal nor extend all the way properly either. It no longer tracks evenly and also making the slide drag on the floor in turn damaging it as well. Finally used all of my weight to assist the slide to go in and out to seal properly and it is showing quite a bit of resistance. Sorry I haven't figured out the whole pic posting and all in here yet, but do have pics. Anyone else experienced a similar situation?

I traded in a problem child Forest River product in hopes of a better experience with Montana and not stay in the repair shop. Well the jury is still out on that so far. I say that mainly because of this slide problem and the damage to the floor but I also have a few bubbles in the rubber roof and the back up camera does not work either. Would like to hear from anyone who may have experienced a problem with these gears on the track bar for the hydraulic slide out. Thanks for any info and/or advise.

Have same unit with same rear view issue. Dealer keeps saying there is a pairing problem between camera and monitor and high rate of faulty units. Now waiting for my third kit as they can not get them to pair properly. Took delivery in March still never used feature. Good luck. If there is a magic fix please say

Not a good start, particularly with the teeth description. Not an issue we have ever experienced, knock,on wood.

On the camera problem-- check to make sure your ground is secured. Knew of a case where it was not and that solved the problem. I don't have the camera so can't speak from experience.

On both of our Montana units (one used and one new) we never had slide problems. Actually we only needed a very slight adjustment on one of the slides with our 2014 unit. Unless someone else chimes in with other thoughts, I always thought the slides on Montana's were pretty reliable.

Keep an eye on the roof. I have wrinkles, bubbles, and numerous staples sticking up. Large sections of the roof are not glued down. Keystone refused to honor their factory warranty. Customer service experts claimed that all these staples go up and down with changing humidity conditions. When I hinted to them "that dog don't hunt" in my book, they said not to worry about the roof because once it started leaking they would fix it up to 7 years of use.

If you have a good dealer with a outstanding service department you may come out okay. Otherwise get yourself ready for some disappointments.

We had a problem with our big slide dragging when our unit was new. Took it into the Keystone service center and they had to remove the slide and recut the hole. The original hole had been cut too small, even though it was cut by computer.

Had the slide not adjusted properly on our 063400/When we got the 13 3402 we hade the dealer adjust the slides.. properly.. as part of the PDI.I would take pictures of the roof bubbles and give them to Keystone for their information make sure in gets recorded under yor VIN. We have similar issues with our 06 3400 but they never got any worse.

I was told never to move the slides unless level.

Make sure nothing is dragging underneath. A friend with a sob had troubles like that for about a year. After three of four "experts" worked on it and installed new parts , some dope at the shop pulled out a piece of carpet left there from the factory. Problem solved.

Obiviously you can cancel the trip. With teeth breaking off, you have MAJOR issues. No magic cures from any moc'r on this one. And never believe a salesman... John

Hi everybody,

Thanks for all the feedback. I have a list 12 items long now for Keystone. Gone thru every square inch inside and out on this first trip this weekend knowing that I'd find more than just the slide out with issues. Got to love all the bugs with a new unit right? I look forward to contacting Keystone's "disservice department" as Phil so elegantly put it. Ha ha. I've reached out to my salesman by email and even called and left a message to the sales manager to see what I should do since I am 270 miles away and have no Keystone dealer in my area. Here's the socking part......I've heard no response back from anyone at the dealer. Personally I'm not surprised, they made a sale and done with me now. That's the way of the world anymore. I'll update on progress which appears that will be a long drawn out ordeal. Gonna try and keep it going till of October and finish the season out.

As far as the slide which has all the issues I've discovered a dent in the topper rail where someone had run the slide out into something. Think that may be a HUGE clue to the mystery of why that particular slide is so firm moving in and out, out of alignment, had the teeth broke off the gear and dragging the kitchen floor.

Hope everyone is having a good holiday weekend.

Al

Do call Keystone Customer Relations 866-425-4369.Have your VIN ready. Explain all your issues and that you are not near a Dealer. In the conversation mention that you are a member of the MOC forum and the forum speaks highly of Keystone Customer relations.

Take plenty of pictures as they will no doubt ask you to send them.
