Hot Water Problems

We've got a 2008 rear kitchen Montana that we truly enjoy. This Spring, the hot water stopped flowing from all faucets. By draining the water heater, we can get the hot water flowing again, but the fix is only temporary. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix? I've emptied the hot water heater, blown air through the hot water line from the shower into the hot water tank, and sprayed high pressure water into the drain of the hot water tank--any fixes that resulted were only temporary. Anyone know where to get a schematic of the water lines in the Montana? Or a schematic of the hot water tank inflow/outflow?

Thanks in advance.

I sure wish the "Search" function was working as there are several great posts on this problem. There is a check valve on the output port of the hot water heater. It has failed. You can remove it and be good as long as you never want to winterize (the real purpose of the check valve). You should obtain a replacement and install it at your convenience.

X2 on Carl n Susan

The check valve is on the outlet of the heater.

I agree with the others regarding the check valve. BTW we also love our rear kitchen floor plan. Glad we got ours before it was discontinued in 2013.

When I do a complete drain of the water heater and clean the calcium deposits out, I will refill the tank and have the pressure relief open until water comes out of the valve then I will close it, then I will purge the water lines (HOT) starting at the farthest outlet for hot water then work my way back to the closest to the water heater that seems to work for me.
