Replacing Rubber skin on roof

Has anyone had experience of replacing their rubber skin on their roofs? I had one quote from Colton RV in Buffalo for around $5200 for a 32' RV...of course ours are 38' (3400RL)

3 years ago I had a rubber roof replaced on a 38' motorhome I had. Paid about $2,900 but that also included a new sky light and replace roll up awning spring. Two other price quotes in the area ran $1,000 to $2,000 more. The trick is not to be in a hurry to get it done. They had the unit about 3 weeks and worked on it between slow job times.

I don't have any experience replacing the rubber roof but I have heard of a alternative that is sprayed on.
Its the same kind of product used for pick up spray in bed liners.

I have only heard good things about this product but the downside is the only installer at the moment is in Florida

From what I understand the rubber roof membrane is not all that expensive, less than $1000 for a 38ft trailer.
But its quite labor intensive and you need a dry area to work.

May I ask, what happened to the roof? The Monty isn't very old. Was it damaged or deteriorated?

5000 + tax for my rig. Nothing to fix the tree.

In 2009, Removal, new layer of luan plywood (roof is stiffer/stronger now), gaskets, new vent covers, (EPDM rubber roof and "roof installation kit alone were $1K), materials, labor came to about $5500 before Tax on my 36' fiver. Insurance Collision provision paid almost all of it.

I was going across though a Canadian border crossing (small one in Saskatchewan, Canada) and unfortunately I went in a line which had a height restriction and I missed seeing the long board sign indicating low height. I was just crawling along but the sign managed to scrap over the roof before a border guard came out and indicated I was in the wrong lane. He crawled onto the roof and lifted the sign up as I backed up. Two small scraps where it tore the membrane. I have since patched up with roofing compund but longer term feel it will be necesssary to get a new roof. I am going to check to see if my insurancw will cover.

Ps. It was raining quite heavily at the time.

Check on some Eternabond tape for the repairs. As strong as or stronger than the roof membrane, and a heck of a lot cheaper. Curious what kind of roofing compound you used, Dicor? If the areas are small enough to be sealed with Dicor, I think the Eternabond tape will be all you will need.

Bingo...I looked up 'Eternabond' and we have no dealers up here. But it appears this company makes something similar and my RV shop has some in stock. Enough to fix my small scraps. Yes, I believe it was DICOR roof repair that I used.

I looked at the product you listed, and am not convinced that would be the right thing to use. Eternabond tape can be bought online at many, many sites, surely if it cannot be bought in Canada, someone could ship it there, I thought Amazon had Canadian distribution? The one thing I will add if you decide to use it, is follow the cleaning instructions for the roof and make darn sure that you apply it where you want it, there are no second chances if the roof is cleaned properly.

Our rubber roof came off on our new Monty and luckily it was under warranty at the time. We did see what Keystone was billed ~ just around $5K, so it sounds about right. (Our Monty is 38'.)

We got our roof tore on the edge and a ways on top brom snagging a tree leaving a camp ground. Eternabond tape to the rescue. That was 4 years ago, not a problem since. I have a 3"x50' roll that I carry with me and just a couplwe of weeks ago I used it on the corner edges where the slide toppers attach to the camper. That is the 1st place that starts to tear or wear out, goooood stuff.

Last summer I developed a hole in the roof from a branch or the like. I got three quotes, all about the same of about $6000 for my 38 foot Montana. I have National Interstate insurance. Although expecting nothing, I called the insurance company and they explained that the roof was not covered by wear and tear but was by branches falling and making a hole.
After discussing the issue, the customer support said that "it was covered" and "yes, it would be about $6000." The adjuster (from Ohio) asked me to attach pictures to his email address. After I got a quote from the Montana dealership, they faxed quote to insurance company.

A long story cut short, the insurance company picked up 30% of the membrance (10% deduction per year for 7 years) and all the labor cost. Labor is about $4500-5000. That quote replaced all roof vents and skylight. I ended up paying $140 for Fantastic Fan in bathroom (i added that), and $600 for the membrane. My deductible was $0 because i didn't have a claim for 5 years.

My entire new roof cost me about %750. Needless to say, I was extremely pleased with my insurance company and the job my dealership did on the roof.

It would be worth your while to contact Eternabond and ask if they have a dealer in Mssga. and check Amazon.
I found the stuff at my selling dealer last year in Abbotsford , B.C. so it is in Canada. You just need to find out where is closest to you.

And yes I'm glad I found it as I was height checking a tree and put a couple small rips in the roof. Easy to use.

If your insurance does not cover, contact Dicor. They can make arrangements to send you the materials needed such as glue,EPDM membrane, caulk and butyl tape. My trailer, a 2955 required about 34 feet and the cost would have been around $600. for the material.
Another source is Carlisle Syntec...that is who Dicor would buy from.

Thanks for the comments...I have purchased Eternabond online and will be going over to my US post office box to pick it up! It's too expensive to get the product shipped directly to my house...duties, taxes, courier fee's, etc...

We will go over for lunch and pick it up..
