BF Goodrich Recall for those that have had it done

1. How long did it take to get your new tires on? From the time you advised the dealer to install.
2. What were the replacement tire you recieved?
3. Any problems from the dealer where the tires were installed?

I am in the process of getting the recall taken care of. It seems the dealer, where I bought the tires, is making out that it is mounds of paperwork to get this task completed. That there are just certain tires on BFG list that they will replace the recalled tire with. Just trying to determine if the dealer is blowing smoke.

Greg, I bought all 5 from Sam's Club 18 months ago, ( I won't buy from them again )I called a Discount Tire Dealer, they knew all about the recall, 3 of my 5 were in the date recall window, 2 were not, they had 2 in stock, and had one more delivered the next day, I went on day 2 after the phone call, they mounted the 3 on the ground, with new balance etc, took my 4th one that was the right rear, dismounted it, and did the same with the spare, re balanced those and sent me on my way in one hour no cost, a great tire shop for sure. The replacements now have 9000 miles, we just finished a coast to coast, I did have a low tire in Rapid City area ( small nail ), found a Discount Tire store, it was repaired for free, and no other issues, they are wearing great, and look close to brand new.

Went to Two Goodrich dealers and they just looked stupid at me (what recall?). I went to Sam's and had new Michelins the next day. They had them on the shelf because they knew they would be needed.

Greg I just had the Commercial T/A's put on at Costco the day before the recall. When I called them back a couple of days later they had to order new tires and that took about 5 business days for them to arrive. The tires they replaced them with were the Michelin LTX M/S (which is an upgrade). I am on my 3rd set of LTX's on the truck and am very happy with them.

I had recently got rid of the Marabombs for Uniroyal Laredos when I read about the recall on the MOC. The Laredos were included in the same recall as the TA's. I checked the DOT numbers and that afternoon I called the tire store and told them my tires they had just put on 3 weeks earlier were on a recall. They called me the next day and asked if I would go with the Michelin LTX's as they had no idea when they could get a non recalled set of Laredos. The 3rd day I had a set of Michelins mounted, balanced, and installed. As mentioned earlier ... a definite upgrade at zero cost to me! They didn't mention one thing about "mounds" of paperwork.

I had my BFG commercials installed in March, made a 1500 mile trip, then made a 500 mile trip on them, then the recall happened. I started the recall in early August and had the replacements put on in early September. The dealer simply couldnt find replacements thats why it took a month. According to him the only thing that was available were the Michelin XPS ribs.

So it took 1 month, no paperwork on my end, I watched him fill out the paper work so its not a whole lot.

Called Discount Tire where I got the BFG. They hadn't heard of the recall yet. Said bring the Montana in, they call Michelin while I waited, Michelin Authorized, replacement with Michelin LTX M/S (upgrade 70,000 mile tire, the BFG were 50,000 mile tires). Tires were 1 year old, maybe 7,000 to 8,000 miles on them, no cost me me other than my time to take Montana over. Was all done in less than 2 hours from time I got there.

They also transfer my Tire Warranty I had on the BFG to the Michelin's. Again no cost to me.

Took my tire dealer 1 day to get Michelin LTX M/S and about 2 hours to install. Fresh "force" balance and new metal stems again and didn't whine at all! No charge.

Got the letter in late September, checked the tires and found they were in the recall. Called a BFG dealer, they ordered the tires, week and half later had them installed. No cost other than the 75 mile trip to the tire dealer.

I had mine replaced last week. They put on an all terrain tires and it doesn't say commercial ta on them. They are the same load rating and are B F Goodrich. I am not sure they are the right tires. Discount tire put them on. Any feedback on this would be helpful.

Tell them you want the commercial grade tires. All terrain tires don't belong on a FW.

Three of my tires on the RV were on the recall. I called their customer service and told them I didn't want three new tires and one older. They replaced all four at no charge with Michelins. I went through Discount Tire because they are nation wide and have a good road hazard plan (optional) and they will work on the trailer at their stores. It took about two days to get the tires in and I checked the build date and they were just made.

Just make sure they are E rated, not D rated, someplace after the size it should have an E, or E1

They are E rated. They just have the aggressive treads.

I wouldn't have known about recall if not for this group. Called my dealer and took him a copy of letter that I downloaded. Had put the T/A's on about a year ago. He ordered me four new Michelin LTXs. Had them installed in less than 48 hours.
