tires again

X2 on the 2010's being good for G614's although I believe I heard that a few 2010's were made in 2009 with the weaker rims on them. As Michelle says, just check the back.

I did not check the rims. Appreciate the headsup on that. Once my new TransForce tires need replacing, will pursue. Would sure like to have G load tires vice the E!

Those of you that are running on the LT tires like the BF Goodrich Commercial T/A what is that tire’s load rating? I need to have a tire rated at 3520 lbs on my 2007 3400RL with 7K axels. When I went to my local tire shop they could not find LT tires in my size with a load rating of 3520 lbs.

The BF Goodrich Commercial T/A LT235/85R16 load range E is rated for 3042 pounds max load at 80 psi inflation. As far as I know, all LT235/85R16, and LT245/75R16 load range E tires are rated at 3042 pounds max load at 80 psi. Unfortunately, you are not going to find a load range E LT tire with a load rating of 3520 pounds. If you change to a load range G, such as the Goodyear G614 LT235/85R16RST you will have a max load rating of 3750 pounds at 110 psi. At 100 psi this tire is rated for 3550 pounds.

The rims should be stamped somewhere on the back side with the ratings. Others have a sticker. Our 2007 is rated for 3750 lbs and 110 psi but others in that same vintage, give or take a year or two, are not.

At one of our rallies the rim mfr passed out stickers with the higher ratings, saying those of our rims marked with lower ratings were mis-marked. Later they recanted that. Those that came from the factory with the sticker are correctly rated at the higher numbers, so I've been told.

I think I was lucky last year. I found a screw in my Marathon tire after a 200 mile Fall trip. No blow out and it's still holding air. The top of the screw is almost totally worn off. They are about 4 years old so I guess I'll be replacing them.

Thanks for the link. I can't find an exact match to our 2007 rims there. Close but not exact. Ours are a TR6 but I'm not sure if that's the model number like the T03 and such they show now. Apparently they're showing just the current products? Good info on the current ones, though.
