Bethpage Camp Resort , Urbanna Virginia

We've been camping at Bethpage since 2000 and have had only good experiences there. The campground has expanded over the last four years and they have constantly been upgrading the facility.

All the sites have full hook up's. They schedule different events each week from April to November. They are located on the Rappahannock River and have a boat ramp if you are able to bring your boat. There's an arcade for the children, a large pavillian with a huge TV screen great for watching the NASCAR races, there's an area they turned into a beach that is actually in the campground with sand and all. There are two pools, one for adults only and one for everyone young and old. The town of Urbanna is only 1/2 mile away and has a varitey of stores if you like to shop or need groceries. The campground also has a fully stocked store for just about anything you might need for the camper or personal needs.

The standard camp sites are 50X50 (Except on Oyster Festival Weekend when they double book). They also have pull through's that are long but not as wide. The older sites have larger trees and they keep them trimmed well above the tallest camper.

They put in a lot of new sites in the past two years with 50 amp service. All the 50X50 sites are level and grassy. Pull through's are level and you're on a slab.

We consider it our home campground, it's only 90 minutes from Fredericksburg straight down route 17.

Thanks, Bill & Pat. Do you recall pricing for weekly and monthly sites, full hookups?
Thanks.

Bethpage campground is a little on the pricey side, but I don't remember what we paid.

I figured that. We'll check it out anyhow. We have two granddaughters in the DC area and try to take them to different campgrounds each year. This year it will be Jellystone at Luray. But we will need a place for next year. When we were vacationing we weren't all that concerned about CG prices but as fulltimers who pay for every night of the year we are a bit more temperemental (sp?). Sometimes we treat ourselves, however.

Did someone say NASCAR? Wow, where is this Bethpage? We got our rig so that we could "chase NASCAR" and our first on-track camping/race weekend is in Phoenix in November. Campsite spaces at the tracks are HARD to get and you have to sign up for them WAY in advance. We are working on that now. In the meantime, every weekend when we are out in our rig we have that satellite aimed and enjoy the races in our 5er. But BIG SCREEN...That's good!

Bethpage is nice, but pricey. There is another campgrounds off Route 3 in Virginia. Its Outdoor World's Harbor View. It is a private campgrounds that takes travelers off the highway. They charge $20.00 a nite for full hookups with 30/50 amps. They are located between Richmond and Washington DC using Route 301 to Route 3 then south 10 miles to Oak Grove VA. It has a pool and shaded lots.

Thanks, Ken. I've saved your post, too. Maybe when we're in Virginia in late August at Luray we can check out some of these places.

Were planning taking our Good Sam camping Group to Out Door World Campgrounds at Oak Grove the weekend of August 20-22. If your in the area drop in. We have two families that have Montana's. Trying to talk the other one on traveling to Goshen in Sept with us. Outdoor World camping price is right and they have full hookups and a nice swimming pool. They are also right next to a marina if you like to fish. PS we only live about 16 miles from there. Would be nice to meet you.......Ken

We've been to Bethpage a few times as it only takes a couple of hours to get there and get setup with a cold Miller in hand. We really like it and our 9yr old daughter is never bored. We've been there for their crabfest weekends. What a blast!!!

Ken and Velda, we'd like to meet you folks, too. Where is Oak Grove? I found Dahlgren on street atlas but am not finding Oak Grove.

Our reservation for Jellystone in Luray, VA, is to arrive 8/27, leave 9/3. On the 27th, soon as we get set up we will drive to Springfield, over by DC, to pick up our granddaughters. That's a Friday. We'll take them home on 9/2, and pull out on 9/3. Inbetween there we have no plans at this time.

We leave here (Independence, MO), on 7/10 and will spend about a week in Sioux Falls, SD, getting registered to vote and getting to know our adopted home city. Between then and our time in Luray we were thinking Niagara Falls and Gettysburg and whatever else comes up. After reading the thread about Door County, WI, we're thinking we might like to go up there, if time allows. That part of the country we're not at all familiar with so will need to do some research before we pull out of here.

Hopefully we can get together in there sometime. If it doesn't work out for August, then we'll see you at the rally in September.

My memory is really getting bad. Reading too many posts, I guess. Ken, just re-read your earlier post detailing exactly where Oak Grove is. We'll be up in Luray, not too far from Front Royal but more up in the mountains. We're undecided at this point where to go between the time we leave Luray and the time we need to be in Indiana for the rally. Don't let me forget about you. As noted, my memory is not that great. We'd also like to stop and see Bob and Sherri, who are in the Richmond area when they're not out gallavanting around with their Montana. Bob and Sherri are the first MOC couple we met. Very nice people.
