Fall Color? When?

We're trying to block off some time for a trip to Vermont and/or New Hampshire. When should we expect the "famous" fall colors??

Usually middle of September to the end of the month. A lot depends on whether it has been a wet(later) or dry summer(earlier). This past summer their was minimal rain and when we left on 10 September the leaves were really changing. However, I am sure the ones that are from there could probably give a closer time.
