It is non-thinkers like that who will eventually result in spotchecks at weigh stations for RVers. The guy is a danger on the highway.

well then, ... that did not work.
but you can insert from the drop-downs, a SuperDuty to compare.
might be best that the link did not work; that sort of inadequate public exposure could be undignifying and embarrassing

I have a friend that went out this winter and bought a brand new Sunny Brooke Raven. Don't know the real particulars as far as weight but I can assure you he's pulling well over 14000 lbs. Now get this, he shows up here from MI to FL at the CG I am at, pulling it with a brand new Ford F150. I asked him how in the heck did that pull?????? He said it pulled it great. I am actually the one that lifted the 5th wheel off his truck when he got parked and I know that truck had to have come up at least 5". Told him he better rethink his truck as it's way to light for his load. He said but the salesman told me no problem and I am happy with the way it handles. Told him its just not safe and you had better get a heavier truck. I left it at that until a later date when the subject comes up again. I know it will.

Salesman!!! What they do (or most do) to get a sale. Not all salesman should be thrown into that category as I know full well there are some good ones out there, but there is way to many bad ones!!

I always wondered why anyone would believe a salesman in the first place. The whole world knows about salesman ethics, or lack thereof, doesn't it? Whenever a salesman told me something I needed to rely on I insisted on seeing it in writing or having him give it to me in writing, depending on what we were discussing.

When we were selling Rv's at the Rv shows and the customer would ask me if his Ford Ranger would pull the 14K 5th wheel he was looking to buy and I would say..sure it will..about 10 feet before something broke. Will it pull it and will it pull it safely and within ratings and spec's are two different questions .
As I have said many times we found few salesman that did not know their product. They would not be salesmen very long if they did not. We found the majority of potential buyers knew little or nothing about their product. We spent a lot of time protecting the buyer against themselves In many cases the buyer would tell me I did not know what I was talking about and would go down the row and purchase from a salesman who told them what they wanted to hear.

Will it pull it.....sure..uninformed question...stupid answer.but not a lie IE: the ever on going 3/4 ton one ton debate.

We or (I) myself included have hammered on about what kind of salesman would do such a stupid thing in selling someone something that should not or could not do the job. I will put a different twist on this. How about a new owner of a 14000 pound 5th wheel that went into a dealer so uninformed of what his needs are that someone was able to sell him a truck that is about 3000 pounds under his minumum requirements? You would think that this guy would have done some basic homework to see what kind of TV would be SAFE. The scary thought is there are many out there like that, driving next to you,BEHIND YOU and on and on.... just a thought :-)

Quite a few years ago when I was looking for a diesel to pull a 5th wheel, a GMC salesman told me the cargo capacity was the same as the rear axle capacity. I very tactfully told him that was not correct...he informed me that he'd been selling trucks for 17 years, and that WAS correct! His boss was green with embarrassment when I passed this information on to him...after I told him I would not be buying a truck from his dealership.
