5th wheel hitch
We just purchased a 2005 chev 2500HD extended cab and a 2005 Montana 2955RL. I am debating on whether to get the sliding 16k hitch or the standard. Anyone have experience with this question?

The information that is missing for anyone to give an opinion is: Do you have a long bed or short bed?

Long bed truck, no need. Short bed truck, I would definitely get a slider, comes in handy when trying to turn really tight or get into a campsite. Got the money to spend, many swear by the Pull-Rite, it slides automatically.
Welcome to the Forum!!!!!!!!

I agree, shortbed get the slider, longbed doesn't need it. If you can swing the cost of a pullrite superglide, that would be my choice since it eliminates the need to remember to use the slider. Otherwise, at least a manual slider, which is cheaper and what most of us have.

Welcome lrseals to the MOC.
I have an 03 2500HD short bed and a 2955RL and I use a PullRite 16K SuperGlide.
Read all about the SuperGlide at the following..........

I use a Reese 16k slider for same truck, except it's a 2002. So far have not used the slider, but sure I will have to one day... It's a good hitch at a reasonable cost. I would suggest that you use a lock on the latch that locks the control arm in place. By all means use a check list when hitching and unhitching.

lrseals -
Congratulations on the new truck and 5er. Agree with everyone else, get a slider with a shortbed. Best of luck and look forward to hearing your posts of adventures.

lrseals,
Welcome to the MOC and glad the information has helped but you never answered the question regarding whether you had the SHORT bed or the LONG bed. Inquiring minds want to know. So let us know and welcome to the gang.

We have a '04 2500HD crew cab short box with the SuperGlide hitch. I can't recommend it enough. You definitely need a sliding hitch, and the auto slide is worth every penny!
