Bobby,
I also grew up with snow living on Long Island, NY. Then I moved to the Sierra Nevada mountains in California and did line work for 20 years. We would snowshoe in 30 feet of snow and work on utility lines at eye level. As I get older, I don't miss it a bit. I have many good memories though. Sometimes though, I just can't help myself and want to see who has enough guts to brave the Florida "sunshine" in their shorts (if they can even find them). Just one picture of someone in shorts and flipflops with snow on their shoulders and head would be great to see.

No photo of shorts and snow angels from Gulf Shores today.

Pensacola??? Not sure, by the middle of the night, schools in both counties - cancelled. Pensacola Naval Hospital - all regular appts cancelled, emergency room open, duty for emergency personal only, all rest told to stay home.

It has been raining, no, make that RAINING!!! Buckets of water, not snow.

The only photo you would get from Gulf Shores this AM is of rain soaked yorkies and mom.

From looking at the Weather Channel just now, it looks like the snow birds at Myrtle Beach are going to get a few inches this weekend as well.

Not exactly a blizzard here in Northeast Texas, but a pretty good snow for us--more than we've had in serveral years.

I got up early and took a few photos. We would have had a much deeper snow except that we were above freezing for much of the time it was snowing.

This is a hastily thrown together web page:

Was watching the weather channel @ 1:00 pm and they made a statement that I had to think about for a while. It went something like this -

There is (or will be) snow on the ground in all 50 states.

We missed most of the HUGE SNOW STORMS up here in NEPA. Got 6 inches last Wednesday and Wednesday night. Areas below us BLASTED.

Sure, they got that Haleakala. Snows up there, and if you have never been, don't miss it if in Hawaii. It is unbelieveable at the top, looks like some other planet, or the moon.

And, if you really want a thrill, try riding down it on a 2 wheel bike as here: http://www.bikemaui.com/.

No words to explain it. But, start with THRILLING. Something like 10 miles down and you coast all the way, except for about 800 yards. Sometimes coast is not an apt description either, FLYING FAST AND LOW, comes close tho!

BTW, never snowed here in Gulf Shores as far as what I saw. No snow angels from GS, sorry. If it ever gets warm again, could see about some sand ones down at the beach. But don't hold your breath!

Saw on the national new a few minutes ago that Hawaii was the ONLY state without snow today. That's still quite a record.

I think Jim was sick from cabin fever to wear shorts, a t-shirt and NO HAT, then make snow angels! So when he "ROFLMAO" need he mention that his floor was in the snow? I hope he didn't get a brain freeze.

Thanks, Ron. Only thing is that a "white Christmas" is about as rare as it gets around here! Still, I may cheat a bit and use one of those photos next year.
