Connecting a Honda generator
This has probably been covered in this forum before. You will forgive me, I am relatively new. I did conduct a search and didn't see too much on this particular topic.
I acquired a Honda EU3000is generator from my brother-in-law during the Rita evacuation. I'd like to set it up for service "underway." I will probably place it in front of the truck bed and would like it to power the Montana from there while hooked up.
I have seen a few posts on this topic. I know some people actually run a cord from the 50-amp female receptacle at the rear of the 3295RK under the unit to a generator in the truck bed.
It would seem to be easier to run a "pig tail" from the generator to the electrical connections in the front utility compartment where on board generators are normally installed. The battery is wired in there and I assume the there are "generator ready," connections to the 110V system there.
I would terminate the connection to a 23A receptacle at the generator.
Can anybody give me any leads (pun intended)? I am not asking for a wiring diagram or anything (though one would be accepted), just some advice, a point in the right direction, or the voice of experience (for instance: "just go to the dealer!").
Thanks
