Boston to Savannah

Hey all you East Coasters, we will be leaving Lake Tahoe and heading east in late April, 2018, and will take about 12 days to get to Boston, then we plan on spending about 18-20 days going from Boston to Savannah, Georgia, and then 12 days to get back home, or around 6 total weeks. Going from Boston down to Savannah, what are some must stops, and highways to avoid, since I am close to 60 feet long. We have been to DC before, so we can skip that. Any trips you have done in this direction you can recommend? Thanks

Myrtle Beach, Charleston are a couple places that come to mind.

Wilmington, North Carolina has the USS North Carolina battleship and a week long festival in the spring called The Azalea Festival. Wilmington is about an hour east of I-95. Be sure to check out all the good food along the coasts of the Carolinas and Georgia at the mom and pop restaurants not the chain eateries the seafood is fantastic along with all the southern specialties. Have a safe rip.

And if you would like to stretch your Trip a bit just to say you hit Florida as well there is a beautiful State Park called Fort. Clinch on Amelia Island. Great bike riding and seafood all throughout the historical district. The KOA in Mt. Pleasant just across the bridge from Charleston is another great central location for that area.
Ebenezer PArk in Rock Hill is a nice Park to experience a NC man made lake and if you would also like to see Charlotte...and all its talked about growth!

Assume you would want to avoid NYC, Philly and DC at least with the 5ver on behind. We went around north of NYC and stayed at West Point on west side of the river, then across Conn to Newport, Providence and Boston. On return, went west thru Mass to near Albany and back south from there. We stayed on Istate til North Carolina and then went East to Elizabeth City and toured the Outer Banks , leaving the 5ver in E city. Morehead City, New Bern and Beaufort are neat. Then on to Wilmington. As for Myrtle Beach, If you have ever been there, you know you don't need to go back. Charleston and Savannah are so much better choices than MB. Have fun.

Route I-287 and the Tappan Zee Bridge is the only way that I have found to go around to go around NY City unless you go WAY around. We are Newbies and we almost jack-knifed on that road amidst the crazies coming back from our trip to Cape Cod last summer. But it was still better than sitting in the parking lot on the George Washington Bridge.
I-95 can be pretty stressful considering it is one of the most widely used corridors in the East.
