More Stents?
Woke up about 2am with some chest discomfort and slight pain while breathing. Second little episode with this in four days. First time it went away, this time it didn't seem like it was going anyplace.
Spent 8 hours in the ER, ending the stay with a Echo Stress test. Next steep is to go see heart doctor next Tuesday. ER Doc thought that probably meant one or possibly more stents.
Recalled reading about Steve getting new stents on an earlier forum post. Maybe Steve and I both should have stayed in Florida this summer!

Take it easy and will be saying Prayers for you along the way. And your right, we both should have stayed right here I'm thinking. Only problem Ii seem to be having now, is when ever I have any chest comfort, my mind wanders and I have sort of panic attacks. did you last music gig in Michigan and during half time break I got a panic attack and never made it back to the stage. One of our jammer musicians is a retired fireman and he came over to the Montana for a while with me and got me calmed down and that in itself was a Blessing. Once having a problem it seems so easy to let our minds wander, even when they don't know what their wandering about. Take care there and let us know how the cardiologist apts come out. Happy Trails, Steve and Susie

Good luck Joe. Had quadruple bypass in 05. Could not stent. Don't get cracked if you can keep from it. Doing great now but not much fun then. I think it was from all the good food you and I both ate in patrol cars, ( cheesebugers, fries and oh yow don't forget our famous donuts ) Best of luck and a speedy recovery. Joe.

You are probably correct, a career in LE sometimes isn't very heart healthy. Different shifts, bad eating habits, and being required to go from zero activity to 100% in seconds, plus other factors stressed us more than we realized at the time. Thanks for advise Joe, I would like to try lifestyle changes and stents prior to having the old breastbone cracked.
I'm just going to find out what my heart doctors plan is and go along with it, keeping in mind that "someone" else has actually already laid out my plan and he will decide how this all goes.
We had dinner with our good friends last night. She was diagnosed with ALS six months ago. It is on a fast track and she already has lost the use of her left arm.
I have been 100% healthy for 62 years and am extremely lucky. I am going with the flow and very thankful for what I have been given.
Thanks to all for your kind words and thoughts.

Good new from cardiologist this week, no stents or other procedures needed right now. Changed meds, added two new ones, ordered me to quit chewing tobacco, cut down on beer, and continue walking daily.
It is amazing how easy you can make lifestyle changes after a cardiologist tells you to.

Great news. You be a good boy and do as the doctor says. Good that you only have to cut down on the beer.

That's Great News!! Be sure to listen to the Doc. I didn't and ended up having them crack my chest and do 4 by-passes, not a pleasant experience!

Scott, I think it was enough of a "wake up" call that I will follow the cardiologist directions/suggestions. In times past my daughter (nurse), my DW, and even my regular doctor all warned me about tobacco usage. All I was hearing was blah...blah...blah....
But when you feel some pain in the old ticker and the Ticker-Fixer tells you what you need to do....let's just say that carries more weight.
I was somewhat relieved that he said to "cut back" on beer and not to stop drinking it. I may have had to get a second opinion. I didn't want to bother him with silly numbers, but according to my math if I was consuming a case per week of beer and I cut that back to 23 cans I should be good.

Hope the med's do the trick there Buddy. I quit smoking going on 6 years ago, but every now and then I'll smell a certain kind of smoke and almost pull my hair out. As for the drinking, I used to drink 7 & 7's and one time the doctor told me to cut my drinking in half. So I got rid of the 7-Up--lol. Anyhow glad the news was not completely devastating and yes in my calculations, 23 beers is cutting down. Happy Trails, Steve and Susie

Joe, glad to hear you don't need surgery! Listening to your cardiologist and your body are extremely important. Sometimes pride gets in our way.
