it never ends ( UPDATE) it gets worse.

After 7 years of flawless service the door latch on our Splendide 2100 broke off. Rv'ing is beginning to be a chore. Guess it is the Campground laundry till we can get a new part..

Just a thought. Two years ago our neighbors had a door hinge failure on their RV washer. He went through hoops to get the part and made the repair. Shortly after there was a leak in the washer. He pulled the unit out to have a closer look and found the drum rusting out. A new washer was ordered.
I don't know what the expected life span is on those units.

On of the issues with RVing is that if you don't have something to fix today you just haven't found it yet. On the other hand, I never had a sticks and bricks washer last 7 years before something bad had to be fixed.

Got a new handle in the Montana to be put in when I get to Florida. I broke the handle when I was "winterizing" it. Told Patti we should have went earlier. Handle was $36 and shipping was another $17 on top of that. Sure hope it's not rusted when I take the door off to fix it.

Same here Steve. Ordered from Splendide this AM. Will be here in Florida in 3 days UPS. 52.00 with shipping and installation instructions.

The door did not open when it was supposed to and I yanked on it to hard. That will teach me to even go near a washer/dryer.

Helen can handle the replacement. I don't think the "go earlier " is going to work on Pattie.

AC came on at 11AM..Manny's awaits.

I think there are two very valuable lessons here that I have been reminded of and have taken to heart from Rich's experience.

1) Do not under any circumstances go anywhere near a washer.
2) If you happen to be near a washer, do not forget to follow Rule 1, and leave immediately.

DW will not let me near the S&B washer either, something about pink underwear from when we were first married, I put whites with reds!! (Perhaps it was intentional?????) Almost 25 years later and I am still not allowed near the washer.

It was Helen's fault as she showed me exactly what to do to stop the washer when the wash cycle ended so I could remove her" "delicates" as they could not go through the dry cycle. She was at craft class, far more important then getting her "delicates" out of the W/D. I did exactly as instructed and ripped the handle off. Lesson learned for Helen. The 52.00 and installation is on her. She knew better than to let me near the W/D.

UPDATE: The Splendide door handle replacement was here UPS in 3 days as promised by Splendide . Helen completed the installation in less than 1/2 hour. It was a piece of cake. We are back in the laundry business. I will never touch the machine again.

I know many of you have love affairs with Camping World, but, I know of someone that had a broken handle on their Splendide, walked into a Camping World in Arizona and walked out with the part. Said it was an easy fix once they had the parts.

And, no, it was not CountryGuy and Moi.

Bingo, your advice would be good if I hadn't promised Joyce I'd do the laundry in order to talk her into marrying me.

Both camping world and camping connection here in this Florida area did not have the handle in stock but could order it. The price was more than Ordering from Splendide and both said it would take longer to get here. I thought it would cost more.

This top of the line , best you can buy 2013 3402 Big Sky may be the worst thing I have ever purchased. We have been noticing a "smell"in the kitchen area so we began to investigate today. Long story short Undid a few screws in the underbelly in area under the W/D closet as we had a over flow there a couple of weeks ago(My bad). Water is still pouring out of the underbelly far to much for a W/D over flow. The W/D is not over flowing and the floor on the inside is not wet. I figure a galley or gray tank leak. We never travel with full or near full or slightly full tanks. We never let the tanks fill up as we dump every couple of days. We now have to determine where the leak is coming from. We are 17 Months old and this Rv has been used way less than the 06 in the same period of time.

Far to many problems for a allegedly top of the line RV.

Can't be Steve. Gallons of water and it is still dripping . We caught the overflow and the Washer was still half full of water. We will fill the galley and gray tank then dump each one separately to see what happens. When it dries a bit I will look up under the underbelly with a light to see what I can see. We can also stick a hose down the W/D drain. We will find the leak. It would be nice IF that was the problem. But it does not seem so.

We had inadvertently closed the extra drain valve at the end of the dump tube and the W/D backed up as it drains directly to the dump tube. As soon as it over flowed we shut it down. How much water could be in the drain system. We are talking gallons of water here .It took 5 mins for the water to stop flowing out of the under belly. We drilled holes up through the under belly at the low spots and it is still dripping.. The unit looks good here at this nice Rv park with the underbelly hanging down and draining. Great PR for Montana.

The smell has diminished and that is good news. Helen is off to work so we will leave the underbelly hanging and drying out. we will dump tanks tomorrow. Will have to sanitize the under belly were the water has been.Hope it is a easy fix. The water was fairly clear not like galley tank water but had a bad smell to it but not black tank smell.
