Need new Ceramic heater for 24/7 Heating @ 50 degrees

My neighbor convinced me to leave a ceramic heater on in my `14 Monty during the winter keeping a temp of 40~50 all day and night while stored in cold conditions. Does anyone have one they swear by. I currently own but it won't let me set a temp under 60 degrees

One of the problems with ceramic heaters is that if the power fails, even for just a few seconds, they don't come back on.

I think 60 degrees would probably keep an average of 50, maybe less. I’m going to try setting mine on the table or island, so it shuts off sooner.

I guess my question is why have a heater on if you are winterized correctly. I don't know of anything in the rv that could be hurt with below freezing temps. I remove all can goods and pressurized cans when in storage. If you are in extreme cold conditions then the heater probably would never turn off and electric heaters use a lot of electricity.

Your going to cost yourself well over $120 a month in increased power costs for something that is not needed. Winterize it and remove things inside that could freeze.. canned foods, water, etc.. everything else will do just fine.

Where did your neighbor get his information from? Does he have any scientific data to back it up. Or is this just his opinion? If there is any such data to back this up I’d like to see it.
People have been storing campers in cold climates for decades without any heat or apparent damage. I think I will continue to do so.

There isn’t a lot of difference in electric heaters they are all 100% efficient. Do a Google search for caramic heaters and choose one that fits your needs. We don’t know how cold it gets where you live. We can’t know how many watts or BTUs you need to keep your camper as warm as you would like.

Space heaters are in the news every winter and not for good reasons!
I would think getting a little heat then cooling at night could cause condensation?
Look at all the RVs on dealer lots just winterized.

But Pelonis makes a well reviewed one. Walmart has some models or you can order online.

I still carry two small ceramic heaters from my days in our Montana's.

We only winterized one Montana and left it up north, and we only did that for 2 winters. The first time I did it the vinyl flooring in the hallway curled up. So the next year I left a ceramic heater on and no more issues.

Now I haul them around and use them once and awhile to keep from running my heat pumps or the furnace when it gets chilly. Can't remember the brand but they weren't expensive, maybe $30 each. I would go out and look at them but we are right in the middle of a bad storm.

Coming from boating world,,, for us running a de-humidifier was far more important than heating. If one does not control condensation in humid environment,,, you'll have water dripping from vents and AC coils. Combine one with a small spaceheater (size depending on severity of your winter, ie latitude altitude). On my farm we use small portable ceramic heaters that kick-in at 40 F to keep things from freezing.

We use Holmes space heater. DW uses it for white noise while sleeping and heat when cold. We get years of use out of them.

They are a bit noisy, but that is part of why we use them.

Oh and if you use it as white noise, run it outside on heat for a bit the first time to burn off the dust

If it’s winterized running a heater is just more than likely to create more problems than it will ever prevent. Electric cost, condensation on the inside of a rig that’s closed up, I’d bet in less than a month places like inside closest would have mold and mildew..

No need at all for a heater for a properly winterized rig with no one living in it

Does it have to be a Ceramic Heater? Our first year Snow Birding we used three of those Oil Filled heaters, you know the ones that look like an Old Style Radiator in the House. They had a Freeze setting on them so they would turn on if the temp got near freezing and kept stuff left in the house from freezing. Worked for us.
