TPO Roof Cleaner
I was on my roof looking around for potential maintenance, found some of the caulk that I need to fix this weekend, also my roof is getting black spots and probably needs cleaning. What are you guys using for cleaning the roof.
Thanks

When we had a 2010 we talked to the roof manufacturer at the national rally and they said they wouldn't recommend cleaning it at all so we never did. Now we have a 2017 and don't intend to clean it either. If I was getting black spots and wanted to get rid of them I would use Dawn dish soap, but not one that has a fruit scent. Folks have reported squirres and birds damaging the roof trying to get to the food.

The only reason to clean your roof is to make you feel better. It does nothing for your roof. Instead of cleaning your roof take a nice nap in your camper.

That's what I do best. Now I don't feel so guilty for ignoring spotty roof.

We live in Florida full time and i have to clean the roof twice a year and condition it once. The roof ends up with a lot of mildew from the humid weather and it turns the roof dark and in turn conducts heat so we use bleach in a bug sprayer and spic and span or dawn. just make sure the sides are completely washed down so the bleach dosent take off the wax or leave streaks.

Our roof material (TPO) is made by Dicor which recommends you clean and condition it twice a year with their roof cleaner and spot clean areas that need repair or touch-up with denatured alcohol.
I agree that blue Dawn will do the trick for 99% of your cleaning needs, roof included.
this forum seems to be 50/50 on total neglect and regular maintenance of the roof. At a minimum you should inspect and repair as needed twice a year.

We clean our roof as needed when it starts to turn darker so as to not conduct heat also.

Dirty roof also lead to black streaks on camper sides.

X2 on that. Our camper is under a carport and we live on a dead end gravel road...dirt accumulates on the roof without the benefit of rain washing it off. As such, I climb up and wash the roof (sometimes just rinse) prior to washing the camper. Not an ideal situation, but I prefer to keep the camper out of the sun/hail as much as possible. Maybe someday we will build a fully enclosed structure to keep the camper in.

Inspecting the roof is more important than cleaning it. Cleaning seems to be more for cosmetics than anything else. There probably is no wrong answer here as for cleaning and not cleaning but don't let not cleaning keep you from inspecting the roof a couple of times a year.

I inspect it while I'm cleaning it. Probably 4 or 5 times a year.

Have had a 2011 Montana 3400RL for 3 yrs and washed and treated roof 2x/yr with commercial products. So if you don't wash the roof, do you not treat it either? I'm concerned about Texas sun UV damage.

The only way to thoroughly inspect your roof is to thoroughly clean it before you inspect it. Dirt, mold, tree sap and bird droppings can hide problems that could cost you thousands of dollars if they are not found and addressed sooner than later.
A clean roof is a happy roof as far as I am concerned.

I wash the roof twice a year, inspect, and coat with 303. I just wash with car wash soap. Usually done while washing whole trailer.

We have never been on the roof of this 13 3402 and rarely on the roof of our 06 3400. We do have it inspected and washed once a year. When we did go on the roof of our 06 3400 we inspected for proper caulking, tears, etc and washed it down with dawn. We also note that at the rally the roof manufacturer did not recommend cleaning it .I figure it is their roof they should know .However personal choice do what one thinks is best.

I have never had anyone go up on my roof and say "Ewwwwwwwwwww, your roof is dirty"! I bet Baldicon will come by and do it now.
