Basement door strut plate
The plate that holds one of the strut's on the basement door came loose. How did you that have had this problem before repair it? Toothpick's and glue.

I have not had that issue before, but if it's just the screws stripped, that would be a good solution. If is is very large, you may want to glue a piece of dowel in and then pre-drill the holes. Good luck.

I took an idea posted by another forum member. Went to home depot, bought two 3x7 flat metal plate connectors used with wood construction, deinstalled the struts, used liquid nails and screws to mount the two plates to the inside of the door, and then remounted the struts on top of the plates. Easy fix, did that last November, no more problems. As I recall, they were $1.87 each.

Bigger screws if the original ones are 6 size screws use eights. Put some epoxy in the holes and a light coating on the bracket and it will NOT come loose.
