Slide topper noise
We have slide toppers on all three of our slides, that tend to make noise in the wind. I have tightened the spring with not much results. We have seen everything from blow up pillows under the slide topper, to 2" PVC on top of the topper tied down to the slide rails. What do you do to quiet slide topper noise?
John

We have resigned ourselves to the fact that they make some noise in the wind but the benefits outweigh the inconvenience so we just ignore it and enjoy the quiet times even more.,

Same here. And blow up pillows, etc can stretch the material.

X3. Since we are often in New Mexico and Kansas I think we have mostly gotten used to it by now.

Had toppers on my first two Montanas ... didn't put them on on the 3150. I'm a light sleeper and Kansas just has too much wind. I carry a leaf blower with an U shaped extension wand for blowing out gutters on your stick house. Works pretty well in place of toppers.

Wind noise=one of the obvious Cons for us and one of the two reasons we don't have them.

yep would not be without them but last night was a Doosey here on the WASH coast we had 70MPH winds and they got freak'in LOUD had to close the bed slide to get some sleep,we use to try everything to keep them quiet in a big wind storm but nothing worked so we just gave up and we are used to it now EXCEPT in 70MPH winds

I used 3/3" pvc pipe and made a rectangle shape but with the side that faces to the outside of the slide shorter than the side that is next to the rv. This takes four 90 degree elbows and you just make it so that it holds up the awning material. Then I cut the top tube mid point and inserted a t connector so that I can hook a bunch of these "almost rectangles" together with pvc pipe about rwo feet apart and as long as the slide. These "rectangles are glued together, but the pipes that connect them together is just friction fit. My awning support pieces all fit in a pillow case...one for each slide. John

Fact of life with awning covers, but the extra protection it affords the top of the slider is well worth it.
