Tractor Pull

Going to do something this forenoon I haven't done in years. That is, now that I'm retired is, go over to Goshen to the Elkhart County 4-H Fair and watch the tractor pull going on all day today. MUD, SMOKE and DIRT flying from these thundering obnoxious machines!!

BTW. For what it is worth, this fair is supposedly the second largest 4-H fair in the United States. It is attended by at least 250,000 people annually.

Tractor pulls are funny, even the DW likes them except when they're held indoors then the noise is an issue.

They are a lot more interesting than Monster Trucks going in circles and crushing junk cars. Havent seen one in about 40 years.

Man!! What a blast! You definitely need ear plugs, even when they are held out of doors!! They have changed the rules. It used to be that 300 feet was a full pull and then they would have pull-offs to determine a winner. Not any more. You can pull that sled as far as you want. Some of the home-made multi engine things pulled that sled nearly 330 feet!

It's obvious that some of these "farmers" also attended Purdue University's school of engineering, too. Several showed up with anywhere from 2 to 5 Lycoming helicopter turbines on 'em! Good Lord....those big rear wheels spin so fast that if, one would break loose from that sled........it would probably go into orbit! Good thing they have the kill switches on those monsters.

Nosticks, if you get the chance, you need to take in a meet. Can be quite entertaining. Especially, when a clutch or, other parts pieces gets dumped into the dirt!
