Surge Protector

I am looking into purchasing a 50 amp surge protector for our camper. Does anyone have suggestions as to manufacturer and model?

There are models that are just surge protectors and there are others that also protect against high and low voltage and more. We have a EMS-PT50C from Progressive Industries
http://www.progressiveindustries.net/ems_pt50c.htm
This unit is portable, many members have installed the hardwired unit. This company has VERY good customer service.

Don't know what the prices are now, but I got mine here and saved lots of money over CW's prices: https://www.rvpartsoutlet.com/newstore/nojava/index.cfm

You should read what Ozz has been writing about, on this topic. Lots of good info.
I personally have a 50 amp Surge Guard, sold at Camping world and other places. I like it.

As I stated above, Progressive has very good customer service, we have had our EMS for 8 years. Last year I believe it took a surge hit. I sent it to Progressive and it came back fixed, no questions asked.

I have to agree go with the progressive. Love ours. Luckily have not had to deal with customer service but have only heard positive things about progressive's customer service.

Interesting that this subject should come up now. I have a TRC Power Protection Surge Guard 34750 that I bought in the Fall and on this trip is the first time in use. For no apparent reason it shuts the power off to the Monty, for anywhere from 1 to 2 hours, then will reset. Thought at first maybe there was park power problems, but did it again today and there had been no power problems and was told this part has very stable power. I've contacted the company, over in Clearwater to see if they can check the unit later this month when we travel back over to the Gulf side of FL. We have camped since the mid 1970s and never used any surge protection, but after reading the posts here and first hand experience of a friend we thought it would be a wise investment, but not if it can't keep power. Will follow-up when and if I hear back from the Mfr.

We have the Progressive 50A that's hardwired in with the remote display. Works great.

We have the progressive EMS 50HWC with remote display (hard wired) which not only indicates voltage and current draw but displays a series of codes during an upset condition which helps trouble shoot the problem.

Our 1.5 year old EMS-PT50C from Progressive started having problems this past Dec. Progressive said send in but when returned problem was still there. They then shipped a new one which had problems start 2 months later. Sent it in for repair and currently working okay. with a one year warranty they have been easy to work with and more than willing to make it right. Shipping has been the only out of pocket expense.
