Has anyone out there have any information on Kipor generators

What would you like to know, I have two 2000i parallel units, only used one unit once to charge the batteries.

At the suggestion of dsprik, I purchased a Kipor IG3000 and have used it once at home during a power outage. Electric start was nice, unit is pretty quiet as well. So far so good, there are several Mocers who have the same generator and I have not heard anything bad from anyone yet. Best price I could find was at Tweetys.com and they even shipped it free. What unit in particular are you looking at??

We have the 3500, Had it for over a year, No complaints, runs quiet have used it several times both at home and for the camper. 30 amp output so it will run the A/C with no problem. We have run over 11 hours on one tank of fuel.

If I read and used the conversion table correctly, the Kipor Ig6000H weighs 95kg, which equals about 209 pounds. Usually they list the weight with out fuel. It holds 22L of unleaded that would be 5.5 gallons. At 8# per gallon, that's an additional 44 lbs, so total weight with fuel would be about 253 pounds. Sound right?

dg1turner, since I'm probably the first one here to use the Kipor, I will tell you that you can't go wrong with one. Although I'm not familiar with the model you are referring to, the 3500 I have like richfaa will run the first air.
In MOP, I don't really think I would want to lug around that much extra weight just so I could run a second air. Remember, that's mop.
Also, make sure the 6000 model you are looking at has a low enough dbl so it can be used in a cg.

As I will be boondocking in Quartzsite pretty soon, I, too, have been looking into a generator. Two days ago I met a fellow MOCer in the park I am at and we discussed that. He bought a Kipor 3000 watt last year and took it to Q, I believe, some of you may remember, he and a friend cranked on it a full day and it never started. He gave up and went and bought a Honda 2000 and it started up on the second pull. Given the number of Honda dealers throughout the country, I think my choice will be a Honda or 2.

I also am a proud owner of the 3500 ... one note to all potential Kipor owners. A few new Kipor owners have the problem described above ... no start situation right out of the box. I had the same, but called the selling distributor and he gave me a very strange, but effective fix. There is a low oil switch in the crankcase of each unit that grounds out the spark plug. During the ride across the ocean with the crankcase empty of oil, for whatever reason the switch tends to stick. My dealer said,"this is going to sound very strange, but simply bounce the generator on the ground once or twice". I did and it has started right away ever since. I'm not saying pick it up chest high and let her go, but just six inches or so and let her bounce ... it seems to free up the low oil switch if stuck.

Note Dieselguys post and also..DO NOT leave the fuel flow lever in the on position. When you are finshed using the generator shut off the flow and let the generator run out of fuel. For whatever reason leaving fuel in the system seems to flood the unit and it will not start. Have seen the same thing on Honda units.Following that procedure and our Kipor Gen will start every time. We do run it every month as regular routine maint. Also note that the Kipor shares 85% of its parts with The Honda generator (so says the local Honda repair guy)Is that ironic or what..China ripped off Japan.

A friend of ours at a local RV repair shop talked us out of the Kipor 2000, which he sells. He told us if we wanted the 2000 it is better to buy the Honda, easier to start and just as inexpensive when order from one of the advertisers in Trailer Life (that is how he got his). But he said the best deal was the Kipor IG3000, cost less and just as good. We went with his recommendation and got the Kipor. It was a little hard to start at first but now runs great and is quiet. It has a 2 year warranty and our friends shop honors the warranty.

In researching generators, my opinion was that the Yamaha was the best and quietest but the most expensive, Honda next best with Kipor right behind, both just as quiet as each other.

From a cost vs quality view I went with the Kipor.

Our Kipor 3000ti is great. Started right out of the box (July 2006) and it has been extremely dependable in emergency situations for us. Unless the price has climbed significantly, it is still a better bang for the buck than the Yamaha or the Honda. It is super quiet.

Also I believe the 3500 and the 3000 are the same unit. Kipor just changed the nameplate to closer reflect the actual work output. Richfaa bought his in April 2006. I bought mine a couple months later and you could interchange all parts.

Has anyone installed your Kipor inside the generator compartment of your Monty? If so, how did you wire it into your camper and what did you do to handle the exhaust?

Joe-n-Doe, I will tell you I keep my Kipor in the front of the pickup bed. My Montana is not wired for a gen and if I understand right, if it was it is wired for an Onan?
Then if it is in the front compartment, you would have to worry about getting the fumes out of the trailer.
I have to have help to get the Kipor in the p/u bed, but I can maneuver it myself once there.
My battery keeps going low and I have to hand start, but it starts on the second pull. I run the gen every month for about 20 minutes just to please myself that it runs!
Also, when I did my research on gens at the NPS, I thought it was in the 72/74 dbls. Now I could be wrong on that, but the Kipor runs at 68dbl under full load and I believe that is under NPS requirements.
