What Truck Options would you want.

I'm looking at a 2007 Chev. Duramax with LTZ package and camper mirrors, power rear window, trailer package, Handling/Trailering Suspension, adj. foot pedals, rear parking assist. The last 2 I could care less about. The LTZ package takes care of most of the usual options. It's late for the 2007 and I don't want to order a 2008.
Has anybody tried the integrated brake controller and how does it compare to the Prodigy?
What options do the guys on the forum like, dislike and wish that they had. I would like advice before buying.
Thanks
Hugh

Get it ALL it's easier from the factory than waiting and getting an outside vendor putting it in.

If I were ORDERING a new TV I would get every option available. This way you don't have to rely on some after market mechanic messing things up. AND you get the entire rig in one finance package.
For our Monty I was able to add options with the order rather than trying to explian to Lorraine AFTER THE FACT as to why we needed the MoRryde pin box or the rear sun screen and it all went into the same finance package which gives me years to pay at a lower interest rate rather than cash or credit card. I even ordered the Prodigy brake controller with the Monty.

Oh Boy..Just got back from my Friendly Ford dealer where I priced out a 08 350..Same truck as my 05 but a 6.4L and 4X4. It priced out at 49,670..X plan price 44K, 1K customer loyalty rebate, 30K for my 05 350. Would need 13K Plus Tax. Etc. Hummmmm.. That 13K plus will go a long way toward financing our great adventure for some time.I am really OK with the V-10,,but I don't think they will be around in a year or two. Would like the 4X4 and the extra power of the diesel and most of all ...A new truck..Oh..If I ordered ALL the options that Ford would let me order on the new truck it would cost me a additional 6,158.00..I don't think so... We will hold out for additional rebates on the 08 S.D. I learned to day there IS a Re flash on the 05 V-10 but the service person did not know what it was but when I brought it in to be serviced they would do it... I leaned from another source that it increased MPG....But at what cost???? Hummmmm again...

HughM-
Running Boards are a must!

Also see if your "camper mirrors" are electric. Chevy has the ones that are heated....nice, especially in the winter months.

We have a moon roof on our Silverado Pickup...it's o.k. It is a nice way to allow for venting in the truck. I do wish the moon roof window was larger thou.

We also preferred the console that goes all the way across the floor board. Instead of the one below the seat and only goes part way. But in order to have this console you have to order the Bose System. (Nice sound!)

Leather seats in our Dodge, too. Very nice and comfortable ones.

Hugh, you might find you like the parking assist and even the adjustable pedals. I had the parking assist on our Ford. I really didn't think I needed it until I'd used it a few times. Now I wish Dodge offered that option.

On the Dodge we have the adjustable pedals. I find I like them although I could live without them.

We also have a sunroof on the Dodge. It's a good sized one but I could live without it, no problem.

And we have the builtin Nav system, also. I prefer to use my Garmin, which cost a quarter of what the builtin did, has far more functionality, is much easier to use, can be programmed from my chair in the house, and goes with me even if I trade trucks.

I purchased this one off the lot and it came loaded. At the time if I had ordered it I would not have gotten all the plush things. After spending six months in the Monty with Red as my only means of transportation I realized if I was to go full time or when we went on the road the Tow vehicle is our Cadillac. With that said I would get all the bells and whistles if I could afford it on the next one.
Best of luck.
Cheers,

I don't want to disagree with everyone but it was MUCH cheaper to do the add ons after purchase, bedliner, nerf bars, and bug shield. It was at LEAST half price probably much less. I would do the after market for things, I'll give you its not as easy, but it is much cheaper!

If you have children or grandchildren that will be making extended trips with you, I can whole-heartedly recommend the rear seat entertainment system (DVD). As can be seen in my signature it is a necessity for me to keep driver sanity intact.

Yikes something we haven't mentioned.....

Crew Cab or Extended Cab, not regular cab.

We have the Crew Cab.....I don't think I could ever go back to a extended cab. It is so muchnicer and easier when you do your everyday shopping and you need to put things in the back seat. With the full doors (and seat) in the back makes all the difference in the world when you don't have to try to work around a door that opens the wrong way and squeeze in around the door and car parked next to you in a parking lot.

Maybe it would have been easier if you had asked...
What options can you do with out?......LOL, LOL

OK Leaseit and others, I've got a question for you. Why do I need dual alternators? I won't be running much additional electronics, maybe gps, laptop. Just curious.
Thanks

Regarding the rc, ec, cc...the cc is only 7" longer than the ec, for 7", plus added convenience, I opted for the cc.
