Broken ladder

Well, here is another problem solved. While traveling again, I pulled out of parking lot and the bottom of the ladder grabbed the asphalt and pulled the lower rung off and dangling. Here was the solution to the fix. Unscrew the lower step and remover the insert in upper half. Now cut 6" of the U-Shaped outer pipe only. There is an insert that runs through the U-shaped step of the lower U-section before it was bent into shape. Do not cut the insert. Outer sleeve slips off. Remove the four outer screws at attachment. Now, remove mounting plates and tighten the bolt behind the backing plates and remount. This will tighten any looseness. Now place the 6 outer screws to the ladder and this should firm up the ladder. Oh, you may have to replace the STAR exspansion washers inside the tubes. You can buy these or take them off a discarded ladder. Now remove the outer piece of tubing, spray some silicone and insert to upper ladder section. Finish attachments and you are done. Hope this helps, saved me $300.

Brillant deduction by the olld brain cells! Let's hope I never need it...but knowing me...I will. Then I'll remember wheelhouse. Actually, I will search the archives for days, find this post, then fix mine...all thanks to the slugish brain. John
