Time for a new battery...which one?

Well, the battery has finally given up the ghost. A full charge lasts about one landing leg retraction. So.......

Which battery should I be looking at? I was thinking about a deep cycle from Costco. Any suggestions?

The single battery has done us well as we don't boondock much, and when we do, we have 2 Honda generators. So the battery is just there as a backup and for driveway landing leg/slide work.

Keep it Simple a good Deep Cycle Group 27 Marine RV Battery I have had good luck with Deka Brand made by East Penn Mfg.
I have not had good luck with Duralast from Auto Zone and Interstate. Most batteries are Mfg by Johnson Controls
Buy a brand that has a National Warranty.

I have had good luck with Trojan batteries. I also used to like the Costco batteries but they changed brands. The core charge went up and in my opinion the quality went down. The old Costco batteries used to really make my 7.3 diesel turn over, the new Costco ones barely get it started. You might look at running two batteries instead of just one if you dry camp at all.

I have a battery I got from Interstate Battery. It's about twice the size of a standard deep cycle battery with almost twice the reserve amps for a little over the price of one battery. If you wont bang for the buck this is it. They are made to power solar road signs.

I've had real good luck with Auto Zone Marine deep cycle batteries

One thing you might consider is an AGM deep cycle marine battery. We had them before we went solar and went to AGM golf cart batteries with that move. I just got tired of having to remember to check the water in the standard style battery.

AGMs are a great choice. They unlike standard batteries can be discharged without harming them. Of course you get what you pay for. They are expensive. One for my truck was about $250.

I still have the Interstate that the dealer installed when the unit was new. Took it in in December when I thought it was contributing to my 6 point problems. The guys at Interstate cleaned it up and put it under a full load test, told me that it was still as good as new. Very please with the battery. If I've put 2 oz. of water in it in 3 years, I'd be surprised.

We have TWO Interstate heavy duty deep cycle marine batteries in our unit. We do have the level up system but our dealer automatically puts two batteries in the units he sells just be safe. One of the batteries went bad about six months after the purchase and they replace it and have had no problems since and I have not had to add any water to either of the batteries even though it is plugged in constantly when not in use.

Don't know what brand batteries I have. But they are the original ones....two...and they are on the 7th year........now that I am bragging...I guess they will die on the next trip....lol...

Two golf cart batteries 6 volt don't need cranking amps. Got from Cosco 6 yrs ago (Trojan) Take out batteries in winter and put on trikel charger. Been told if you plug into shore power for long periods weakens batteries

Yopper I think the newer converters are better at charging our batteries with out overcharging them then they used to be. I am not sure if they are as good as some of the inverters but better than my older RV's. I agree with the Trojan batteries.
