Indianappolis to FL via (I-65 to US-82 to I-75)

Hello:

After the Fall Rally, we will be heading to Bushnell FL after stopping at the Indianappolis KOA for two nights.

I am thinking of taking I-65 to US-82 to I-75.

Has anyone traveled this route ? This would be new ground traveled for us.

I want to know the good, the bad, the ugly.

Any other suggestions -- I want to stay in a wide pull thru if possible and we are planning to stop 3 nights on our way.

Thanks in advance.

I 65 at Birmingham Alabama (we take it all the way to Gulf Shores, do not cut over to 75)

HORRIBLE road. Will rock the daylights out of you.

Otherwise the route of I 65 south is easy driving, hills not mountains.

I have no idea where 82 cuts over, if you cannot tell from my post!

Ray and Phyliss, we have travelled from Birmingham to Bushnell many times and the best route we have found would be stay on I-65 all the way to Montgomery to hwy 80 which takes you around Montgomery, then take Hwy 231 all the way to I-10 to I-75 in Florida and then to Bushnell. Hwy 231 is a very good 4 lane with not much traffic. we also go straight thru Dothan if traffic is light. Going around Dothan is much further. We have stayed at Blueberry Hill several years in the winter and also Paradise Oaks in the summer. Are you going to one of these for the winter?. Hope to meet you at the rally. If we can be of any help, please pm me. We live in Tuscaloosa, AL and have taken many other routes down there also.

Carole:

Thanks for the Information -

We are about to spend our 7th winter at Blueberry Hill -

We started as 3 monthers for our 1st four years - we have done 4 months the past two years and we have now have graduated to 6 months

What is even more exciting is neither of us has retired - we are able to work from our RV thru the wonders of technology.

Any suggestions for stops ??

If it was my trip I would take I-65 to Nashville and then I-24 to Chattanooga to pick up I-75.

From the KoA on the east side of Indy, you can take I70 back to the west to I465 go south a few miles on I465 and then take I74 south east to I275 around Cincinnati to i75. There are RV Parks all along the route. We have taken that route a number of times. We live on the south side of Indy, in Greenwood. See you at the rally.

This is a great route to see new things.. Not sure but they should be harvesting cotton along 82. The campgrounds in the COE near Eufaula/Georgetown are wonderful. You might want to spend some time there. Of course I-65 and 75 have lot of campgrounds along the way.

Thanks for the posts in response to my question.

We have booked at the KOA-Nashville, KOA Dandy Park in Clanton, AL and the KOA in Monticello, FL

So, we will be taking I-65 to US-231 to I-10 to I-75

See everyone in about 3 1/2 weeks

I have something for you that no one else mentioned. I-65 south of Seymour(US-50) is rough in the right lane all the way to Sellersburg. Just watch out.
