I know this question has come up a couple of times - How can you access a trailer with a wheelchair?
Out of curiousity I was inquiring about the survival of an idea that showed up in a trailer magazine about a decade ago where a "slide out deck" was installed on the frame and you could slide it out for a nice deck and have a place for a couple of chairs out of the mud. To be honest I thought the idea was about as silly as fireplaces at the time (we now have a fireplace). As it turns out, several companies adapted the idea, one being King of the Road that was featured in the magazine picture with a sliding glass door. Titanium toy haulers as well. They are still available and use the new poly composite decking on a steel suspended frame that slides out and locks, with legs for support in the outside corners. A step gets hung on the edge of the deck and even a grab rail is avaliable.
Cool enough, but then I see these pictures where this gentleman has built his own and adapted it for access by his mobility impaired daughter. I thought PRESTO! there is a nice answer to the access question. The man was kind enough to grant me permission to use his photos to illustrate the idea.
