looking for better ride
We purchased a new 2006 F350, CC, SB diesel this spring. We were pleasantly surprised on the improved ride in the truck when towing but I have to believe there is something we can do to improve the ride in the truck when not towing. It seems very stiff and I'm not sure my back will survive. We have air assist springs and when not towing, reduce the air in them as much as possible; same for the air in the tires but it doesn't help as much as I'd like.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a product that would improve the truck ride?

Thats an interesting question but I think you are stuck with what you have. That is precisely why I ordered a F250 and put on Timbrens. The ride is much better empty and the Timbrens don't come into play until I am hooked up.

Probably nothing more can be done to the truck but maybe the seats can be improved or replaced.

We were set to buy a F250 until we discovered that we would be over on the payload; our pin weight is 2920# so we switched to the F350. Guess we'll just have to try and stick to smooth roads (if there is such a thing).

Joand, you can improve the ride when empty by installing the Rancho RS9000RCX shocks. These shocks are fully adjustable, you can tune your ride to what you like. Additionally, there is a on-board compressor that can be installed that let's you adjust them on the fly. I have them on my 06 King Ranch and also had them on my previous 01 F350.

I 2nd the additional weight in the bed -- might decrease your mileage a wee bit but the ride with some weight back there will be much better. Saw same 'tubes' advertised (I think camping world on-line) several months ago-- add water to them when you want/need the weight; drain them using a simple hose attachment when you don't need the weight. Might be an idea to help.

Greetings,
I have to 2nd the motion on the Rancho RSX 9000 adjustable shocks.  I have a 2006 F-350 dually King Ranch, and I have to say that "you ain't had a rough ride until you've ridden in an empty dually" The Rancho 9000 shocks have revolutionized the ride of my truck. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!!! If they can soften the ride of my dually, I'm sure they'll do wonders for your truck.

I agree with Steve and Jerry. I had the Rancho 9000s adjustable shocks with compressor and incab control installed in our Dodge yesterday. We all know Dodge is infamous for a firm ride. Wow, what a difference. I'm running them at the lowest setting around town and it makes a huge difference. But, I've only put about 40 or 50 miles on city streets and city freeways so don't have as much overall experience as the others.

Thank you all so much for sharing your information with us. I feel like I have some hope of getting a better ride. We are definitely pursuing the Rancho 9000 shocks.
We are in the Wash. D.C. area for the next 3 months and need to find a place that sells them.

Again, I'm the voice of inexperience......how many shocks would you need for a dually? I'm already whining about the rough ride and the truck only has about 150 miles on it

What is a ball park cost of having Rancho 9000s installed? Also, why are they worth it? Since I had the extra leaf added to the pack, my ride is rougher on some roads.
