gooseneck hitch
My 1997 F 350 has an existing comercial popup hitch in the bed that looks like a great instellation. Is there any problem putting a gooseneck on the fifth wheel hitch so I can use the existing pin? I've been told the gooseneck I'm considering maxes out at 26,000 lbs.

I don't think that would be a problem. You can buy commercial gooseneck adapters that bolt onto your trailer pin box. If my truck already had the gooseneck ball installed, that's exactly what I would do.

Asked about a gooseneck when I picked mine up in October and was told that it would void the warranty. That came from the customer service dept. at Montana. You may want to ask Montana for yourself before doing anything. Don't know anything about performance because

I would check it out with Keystone first. This has been previously discussed and it was mentioned that the Lippert chassis is not designed for gooseneck.

Bob A, you don't want to do that until your coach is two years old or you are the second owner of the unit. You WILL VOID THE WARRANTY on the frame!!

There are several 5th wheel hitdhes that will fit into your goose hitch. One that several of us have is the Companion hitch by BW. Really a great unit.

Agree with rlwhit. We have the gooseneck adapter made by colibert. The truck has turnover ball made by B&W. You could look back in the archives for info on this subject; we pretty much beat the horse dead on it about 4-5 months ago. Our dealer installed the adapter; Steve himself installed the turnover ball. Good luck on whatever you decide.
