Kathy's computer started acting up the other day and I got to worrying about all the pictures on her laptop. The computer is now fine, and although we do back up the pictures and other data to DVD's, we don't do it regularly.
I found this solution on the Internet:
Network Attached Storage
Have to say, for $55, this is a pretty good deal. I did add the USB drive and enclosure, so there is that cost, too (I already had the case and drive). Just a few years ago, there was no inexpensive way to achieve this.
With both of our laptops connected to the KR2, and the NAS connected to the KR2, I went searching for free software and came up with
SyncBack
With this software on both of our laptops, I set up what folders I want to have backed up (or synchronized) and how frequently I want this done. I have set it to perform the tasks daily, after we are asleep.
