Leaking AC

I tried this question earlier in the technical section but did not get any help. Hopefully someone can give me some information on this forum. I have a 2007 Mountaineer with rear kitchen. The aC unit is above the kitchen counter. This morning I noticed water dripping from the ceiling which was on the "downslope" of the AC. I went up on the roof and removed the shroud but did not see anything unusual. I also checked the AC from inside the trailer but couldn't tell much about it. Does anyone have any advice/suggestions on what to look for before I haul it to the dealer for them to keep it several weeks. Any info appreciated.

Dennis, within the last 2 weeks there was a thread about brown spots on the ceiling at the molding strips.What I got from that was that it was caused by condensation from the ceiling ducts.Are you in hot humid conditions? How much water is dripping?Bill

Yes it is quite humid here and I have also noted the brown spots on the ceiling. Not a lot of water has dripped, I would say less than half a cupful from what I have seen. Thanks for the ifno about the previous threads. Any suggestions/ideas appreciated.

If you have been running the AC a lot it may be just icing up or drain plugged. The refrigerant is a gas and would not be running down the unit. That would be the first thing I would suspect. Turn the unit off and let it defrost it self. If it starts to blow cold air then it should be ok. These units can ice up real in that type of situation. Good luck

Right, another question is are you running it on "high" fan? If not then you need to when its working hard as "Low" fan will not keep pace with condensation on the coils.

Keep your AC fan on manual and on (running all the time). If it is humid and the fan cuts off and on it doesn't keep the condensate evaporated and it collects and drips out.
