SCREECHING SLIDE

I have a 2009 2950 and the living room slide makes a gosh awful noise when it is moved in or out. I have spray lubed everything I can see but it sound like its dragging on the rollers if there are any. Anyone have a clue where to find the noisy ones?

Ours also does the same thing, and I have never figured out how to get rid of it. I have tried just about everything.

It just might be the rubber seals around the top and sides of the slide. Try some 303 on them. It helps in our case.

I ran across this a while back. http://www.lci1.com/LIP/0003.pdf Not sure if this is the gear pack the Montana units have, but the pictures look like the ones on our Mountaineer.

On my Pre Buy Inspection, my entertainment slide screeched in both directions. The service rep crawled under and made some adjustments. This lasted a few months, it's starting to screech again. I don't know if there is a permanent fix.

I have had that squeak before and corrected it by lubricating the same points shown in the pdf file that SlickWillie provided. Not sure we have the same unit referenced in the file as I have never had to loosen any nuts or bolts but the points to lubricate are the same. I used a silicone lube. Didn't take much. Jim

Thank you SlickWillie for providing a useful hint on an annoying problem!

When we were at the Goshen Fall Rally this last fall I talked tothe Lippert reps there and they sent a tech out to check our main slide because it was screeching or squealing when it went out the back in. I was at a workshop when he came out but the DW was home and he crawled under the unit and sprayed some lube on the slides and rollers while the DW extended and retracted the slide and no more squealing. The DW didn't know what he used or the exact locations he sprayed but it took care of the problems. I would presume he sprayed exactly where the booklet showed but if it was it sure worked.

I don’t think this has been mentioned and I would also assume that the squeak would be in the main tubes but one thing I noticed when I sprayed lubrication on the tubes for our slide I also noticed that there are guide wires and pulleys that I sprayed as well. I haven’t had a bad squeak as what you have described. It sounds like you may have already sprayed that as well but I thought I would mention it anyway.
Thanks!
