Life of a Battery???
I'm having electrical charging issues on my '06 2955RL Montana. I got back from camping last week and I had no power in the cabin. I thought it was issues with my coverter but that appears fine. I have my 5er plugged in all year around. Maybe its as simple as needing a new battery How long to batteries last?

Jay,
I find normally less than the warranty. I think they do that so you buy same brand of new battery from them, at pro-rate price.
Number of times the battery goes into deep cycle will shorten the life too. Hot and cold also have effect to. Four years you are probably due.
I hope to get 5-6 years out of my 6 Volt Golf Cart batteries.

Check to make sure your converter has the three stage charging accessory. This will extend the life of the batteries by not overcharging them. It also puts an "equalizing" charge on them that reduces the sulfation problem that shortens their lifespan.
My bateries are 5 years old, are always on charge, and show no significant signs of weakening. I will replace them shortly with 12 V AGM batteries, though, because I don't want to invite problems.

Usually about 5 yrs. is normal for most batteries. These converters charge steadily. If you check the top of the converter and see if there is a plug in on top that looks like a telephone jack if there is you can plug in a smart charger. It will then charge like a regular charger.

My OEM battery lasted 4 years. I just replaced it. The OEM is not a high quality battery, probably low bidder. I have an Inteli-Power Converter by Progressive Dynamics , a good one with the three stage charge so as to avoid over charging. If you are into your forth year, replace it with a good deep cycle 12V or two 6V golf cart batteries.

My first OEM battery lasted two years. We have no special charging equipment, just the OEM converter. We do fulltime and do not boondock. We just added another Walmart battery when it went bad. On a Saturday night in the Keystone parking lot in Goshen, IN. Go figure!!!

Our batteries are now seven (7) years old and going strong. They are AGM batteries.

The newer chargers, (like the one in my 2010 3400) already have the three stage chargers, without having to plug any accessories into them. Check your model's.

I think it was around 2010 that the converters where built with a smart charging system in them. Prior to that you have to buy the smart charger control for your converter.

Our Montana's original battery was installed in August 2006. We just swapped it out earlier this week. It was still functioning but was clearly getting weaker. Since the furnace and refrigerator require 12v from the battery (the converter supply does not suffice) in order to operate the control board and we're starting a stay in snow/ice country until after Christmas, no way do I want to be outside changing out the battery in single digit, or maybe negative digit, temperatures! Otherwise the original battery would probably have made it a bit longer.
