summer storage

We have our 2005 Monty stored on our site just south of Houston. It will be there July through October. We will get back and open it in November. We have three damp-rid containers in the unit and one in the under storage. I did not leave the vents cracked because when they were cracked while staying there in June, we got a lot of heat and humidity in from the vents. We have covers over the vents, so it would not rain in if cracked. The slides are closed. Our daughter will be checking the unit periodically. Should we be doing something different? Thank you for your assistance.

Did you either disconnect the battery or plug the rig in to shore power? If not you will likely have a dead battery when you get there. If that does happen you can probably get the slides open by connecting the umbilical cord to your truck and have the truck engine running (only way it will provide elec from the truck) to get the slides open. Just saw you don't have a tow vehicle, so you'd have to replace the battery or find someone who has a truck who will do this for you.

I would make sure you have city water in all the water lines. My reason for city water is the chlorine which should prevent any algae from growing. Also with water in the lines and just a little pressure there should be no air and again no algae. Either drain your fresh water completely or again city water. I think I would drain.

I put Bay leaves in all the drawers and cupboards to keep out critters. Our unit was stored upstate NY Jun - Apr last year with no signs of critters.

Cover the tires from sun rays.

Good luck

We did disconnect the battery and drained the water completely. Thank you for the suggestions.
