I have 2 Champion 2000 watt generators. Bought the pair for $980. I have used one out front and the other out back after hurricanes at the house. During Florence we evacuated and 1st night used them stacked to run AC and keep batteries up. About 2 years ago at a CW I noticed a cord on the close out table. It has a 50 amp connector to the camper and a 30 to the pedestal. Thought I may need to plug in where only 30 is available one day ~~ that day came.

I think the best value in a generator is Harbor Freight's Predator 3500. Runs at 57 db, with electric start. We used ours 8-10 times this past summer, loved it. The only issue is weight, which is right at 100 lbs but we're able to manage that. https://www.harborfreight.com/3500-w...tor-63584.html

I have 2 HF predators 3500 inverters. I have had 1 for years never an issue so I got another and use a parallel kit. together I have them mounted in the back of my truck under a folding cover that opens just enough for the hitch and the inverters live there. Runs the entire coach both AC fridge everything. can't beat the price. oh and did I mention they are super quiet !!

Where did you get the parallel kit? I can't find one in any HF literature.

Was it from HF or another brand like Honda?

One was from Honda and the other was from fierman. I bought both and have a back up. I can look for the Honda one I bought if from eBay, if you need a model number or something.

Keep the db's under 60 if you plan to stay in national parks.

Just get another honda 2000 and parallel them for running the a/c or individually for light loads.

Thank you all for your replies and suggestions. Today I found a brand new Honda EU2000i Companion at a fair price. This now allows me to connect the new Honda Companion to my existing EU2000i which will result in 4000 starting watts and 3200 running watts. My old Honda EU2000i will be 15 years old in a few months and other than changing the oil regularly and replacing the spark plug once a year the Honda has run flawlessly. I seriously considered buying a Champion 3100 inverter generator, but because of the performance of the existing Honda and good deal on the new one I stayed with Honda.

15 years on the honda... That is why all other generators are compared to the honda. Brand X may match the specs of a honda but are cheap for a reason.

There are several reasons brand X is cheap. Low labor rates, less expensive materials, lower return on investment and someone did all the design work for you and all you had to do is copy it. Just to name a few.

Not sure I'd say "brand X is cheap". I believe Honda is way over priced.

Honda makes quality stuff. I have a motorcycle, lawn mower, weed eater, and generator. Yes they get a premium but you receive quality in return. I wish my 3160 was built with the same dedication to quality.
