Demming N.M.

Jim from another mother posted this somewhere this morn.

Many of you who have been to Deming, NM may remember the small town of Columbus, NM just south of Deming near the border crossing to Palomas, Mx. Yesterday morning a federal task force of ATF & DEA agents arrested the town mayor, chief of police, town trustee and several others, on gun trafficking charges. Supposedly they were buying 9mm machine guns and AK47's here and selling them in Mx.

It always burns me when those that are supposed to "protect and serve" turn out to be aiding in criminal activity. I hope they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Money-Greed-Money-Greed and on and on. I would think 20 years in the electric chair ought to do it. :-)

Ozz, interesting and truly a shame. Coming West in January, the Border Patrol has a check point near Deming but it apparently didn't know about this side with our own bad guys!!!

They have a great little State Park and Museum in Columbus NM by the name of Pancho Villa State Park. It is in a desert setting and this weekend in March they celebrate Camp Furlong Day. There is a parade from the border with Horseback Riders from Palomas MX riding to Columbus. This is the place for the first official US Air Base when General Pershing was sent there to deal with the Mexican invasion and planes were used for the first time during so called combat. I think it was 1916.
We were there last March after the Kerrville Rally. We enjoyed our stay there.
