Trucker GPS

Has anyone used a GPS for truckers, I was looking at Garmin, with there unit you can put several vehicle profiles (car, Truck,5er)with the 5er profile it would avoid height restrictions.
Thanks Ken

I have the Garmin 465T. It has on one occaision kept me from going under a bridge that was 12'6". When I first got the system I put in bogus profiles just to see what the system would do and it even gave me the length restrictions for certain roads. It will also alert you to road grades when traveling over mountains. I am satisfied with it so far.

I just ordered one from Amazon.com. I also ordered the lifetime upgrades which is on sale. It seems like a good unit for use with the 5er.

Does this unit allow for changes on routing by truck car? I am looking for another unit but will swap between the truck and the auto and I do not want to follow truck routes in all cases

I have one and am very satisfied with it. It also alerts you to traffic situations, reroutes when possible, notifies you of scales, upgrades, downgrades, road narrows, windy situations, and current speed limits. Routes are definitely customized to your rig. Would definitely buy again.
Yes, you can switch from truck to car, and back with immediate rerouting.

Does anyone use the Cobra 7750 pro truckers GPS? We are looking for a new one and are debating between the Cobra and the Garmin. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Check out Radio Shacks variety of GPS sets. We bought their Mio Moov R403 GPS for $89 (plus extras: warranty, dash stand). It was on sale from $129.
