Which Detergent To Use???

Hello,

We installed a vented Splendide Combo W/D and was wondering what detergent is the best to use. The manufacturer of course recommends Splendide brand, but are there other HE types?

Thanks much!
Sue

Yes, there are, go to any laundry aisle, any grocery store (walleyworld, etc.)

Read the labels, HE will be displayed in small letters somewhere, if you are lucky on both the front and back. Read CAREFULLY!

I have had good results with several different brands, but, they gotta read HE.

Same for fabric softener, by the way. And, even if you don't normally use fabric softener, you MUST with the Splendide. Take my word on it, you really do!

What exactly does the “HE” indicate?
Does that mean a low suds emitter?

We may be in the minority here, but we use the Splendide detergent. The primary reason is the size of the box makes it a little more user friendly in our opinion, and the fact that DW says it works very well. HE means "high efficiency" and those detergents are also supposed to have the feature of low sudsing which is critical in a Splendide washer. The owners manual, (if you don't have one it is available at Splendide.com) does give some specifications for alternative detergents.

We’ve always used Wind Fresh which I believe is a low suds emitter. As far as I know we’ve never had a problem using it.

Thank you everyone for your responses. We are not near a campingworld can you get splendide elsewhere?

By the way we will be in eastern WA by Sunday. We will be full time there as DH has job there. As of last Thursday I am officially retired! I am looking forward to this new adventure I'm sure I will be bugging everyone with my questions!

Take care,
Sue

One other thing we do with the washer is wash the clothes with a tennis ball. It helps keep the clothes from balling up and we have the cleanest tennis ball on the planet.

After four years in this unit full time, we have found that Arm & Hammer with Oxyclean is every bit as effective as HE and at a much lower price.
