Looking for advice
Hi All
I have a 2017 Montana HC 375 pulled by a 2016 3500 SRW. I have a Mor-Ryde pinbox with a pull rite hitch.
Earlier tonight I went to pick up our camper after service had been completed. It was after hours but my unit was “ready to go” based on a call I received. After I hook up and go through the normal checks I take off and get about 0.75 miles from the shop. When I go to stop quick my truck felt like it was hit. I was able to maintain control and pulled over. Upon exiting my vehicle I noticed something wrong with my hitch. Upon further inspection I noticed the dealer removed the capture plate for the PullRite hitch.
I was able to get it back to the shop and drop it off with the help of an escort.
Based on the hitch moving freely causing the hitch to slam at each end of travel several times what should I inspect before getting on the road tomorrow.
Thanks in advance

Once you get the capture plate back on your trailer, I would hook it up and drive it easily to make sure all is working right. I would be surprised any damage was done.

I agree with the above. I don't think you damage anything.

My dealer has removed the capture plate once - I think it depends on what they are going to use to move the rig around on the yard. If you try to hook up a rig with a capture plate to anything other than a pullrite hitch you will mess up the hitch. Never had an issue with them forgetting to reinstall it.

They had to move it around the yard, so capture plate needs to be removed.
However it sucks the tech forgot to replace it.
Hitch should be fine, but roller and jaw inspection would be on my list to do.

Lesson learned.....ALWAYS ask the dealer on the phone if picking up after hours, if the capture plate is installed as it was when dropped off.

The problem is it was not a dealer but a major OEM in the RV industry. It has taught me a lesson, but I would think they should have systems in place to ensure it was put back on. I guess I expect companies to be as responsible as the expectation I set for my company...
The service center manager stated they have damaged a few hitches from people who use sliders and it has cost him to replace them. This created a checklist that they must follow to remove them.

Hopefully all is well with your hitch! Be nice if all had the same expectations as we had, but that went by the wayside 30-40 years ago if not more. Now its all about the $$$,sadly I might add.
Now lets get camping in this great Ohio weather! Our state parks are amazing to camp in!!

The dealer that serviced mine uses a magnetic sign they put on the pin box reminding them it has a capture plate.
