Aux tank and retractable bed cover

Any of you folks have aux tank solution that works with a retractable bed cover? I am leaning towards a in bed aux tank. If you have a retractable bed cover what do you have and why do you like it? My rig is in my signature.

There are many in-bed aux tanks that will fit under the bed rails. I wish I had got one of them but at the time didn't think I would want a bed cover.

I have a Roll-n-Lock on the new TV and looking at the RDS 72775 combo 40 Gal Fuel/Tool Box that fits under the bed rails. Figure we don't need a 100 Gal plus fuel tank and 40 would double our range and still give a place for some must have items with the TV.

On our 2012 F350 we had a 45 gallon gravity flow aux tank under our Rolbak retractable bed cover with a tee into the fill tube of the OEM tank. The Ford original 0f 37.5 plus aux of about 42.5 gave us 80 gallons on board. Simple install that I did and away we went. The tank with tee connection from Nothern Tool cost a total of $529. My truck fuel gauge would stay on full until aux tank was empty then go down as we used the OEM tank fuel. When we fueled at say Pilot of Loves we just multiplied the gallons used times the cost per gallon to prepay for fuel when in the truck lanes while towing. A simple low cost solution that fit under our Rolbak bed cover. We have since bought a new truck, and the young man that got our previous F350 loves the large fuel capacity. We now have a short bed SRW and want to keep space available for hauling stuff, and plan to replace the OEM tank with a larger capacity replacement.

We had an RWS #71804 32 gallon aux tank will the gravity fill kit in our F350. We also had a BakFlip F1 folding bed cover. It would completely cover the bed with the tank installed and would fold up out of the way when the 5er was hooked up. With the BakFlip folded up and the 5er connected, we were still able to get to the filler neck allowing us to fuel while connected.

The fuel gauge would show full the entire time we were gravity feeding from the aux tank to the truck tank and then would operate normally once the aux tank emptied. There was always about 3 gallons that stayed in the aux tank.

Most of our trips in the past year are with friends and their 5th wheels. Our distance per tank is always determined by the one who needs fuel first;-)

I have the 60gal. RDS gravity feed tank and a Truxudo soft roll up top. Gives me 97 gal of fuel and the roll up top provides cover for those out of sight items in the bed. The combo fuel/tool box, usually the tool box is only 6" deep and I want more depth.

I have 2 plastic foot lockers I place between the fuel tank and the front of the B&W hitch, so I have plenty of tool box room and plenty of fuel.

ATTA. They make several models. Mine adds 45 gal to the 38.5 factory tank. Besides fitting easily under my Retrax cover, and fitting right up against the front of the bed (thereby taking up minimal bed space), it has its own fuel gauge which I have dashboard mounted, and it has its own pump. Mine is set to add fuel to the factory tank when the factory tank drops below 3/4 full. That way the on board computer showing distance to empty (for the factory tank) is accurate. The dashboard fuel gauge also has a switch so you can turn the pump off if you want to control when the auxiliary tank adds fuel to the to the factory tank. It also has an indicator light so that you know when it is "pumping" fuel in to the factory tank, and the indicator light comes on briefly whenever you start up the truck in order to "prime" the pump. I love mine. While we almost never drive far enough in one day to empty the factory tank, it sure is nice to be able to pick and choose where you fuel up at the end of the day without worrying about running out. Just my $.02.

I replaced my factory tank--in a 2012 F250--that was 26 gallons with a 50 gallon tank that fit in the space where the 26 gallon tank was installed. Then I had the local Ford dealer update my truck software for a 50 gallon tank--everything works as expected. Transfer Flow made the tank--if my memory serves me well. That leaves the bed with only the hitch. That worked best for me.

At 69 there are required stops. I added a 20 gallon RDS gravity fed tank which along with the factory tank most often gets me to my next stop. The two will always get me to a truck stop for fuel and the required pit stop. The tank lays flat and my compressor and genny sit on top and under the roll up cover.
