Washing & Waxing Monty
In the North Texas area where we live, there has been a water use ban for some time. No washing of vehicles - including RV's and trailers.
The question is: Are there businesses/people etc. that wash and/or wax 5th wheelers? How do you go about finding who they are, where they are? What is a reasonable price to have a 3400 roof cleaned and the rest of the unit washed?

Rick,
When we traveled to San Diego, I noticed the campground flyer that listed over 6 company's that do just that. While staying there we actually watch a crew come into the campground and polish up a Class A while they were parked. Here is a price list for one of the companies http://www.bluechipdetailing.com/rvdetailing.htm
However I have never found a similar company here in Denver. I asked the local full service car wash but backed off when he started quoting $800 to $900. You might ask the Dealer if they have a contact, or you might even try one of those self employed auto detail guys to see if they would be interested.

Can you take your coach to one of those commerical truck washes? Another idea is dry that product DriWash. Washes the coach and requires no water. Send Helen(adelmoll) a private message and I am sure she will be glad to give you Smokey's email about getting some. =)

we had our 5er washed waxed and detailed in Havasu City, AZ. last year, and it was $350.00. Plan on about $10.00/foot. BSMEATON must have gotten his quote from Bear's Car Wash. That's about what I was quoted there. I'm doing my own today, I may wish I had paid someone by the time it's over with!

I've taken mine to Blue Beacon truck wash a couple of times. They can't get the top (everything is done from ground level) and I've heard folks warn about the decals and pressure washing. They did the TV and the TT and did a pretty good job - probably a new tradition for me at the beginning of each new RVin' season!! I don't remember what it cost but it's a real time/effort saver + you get to sit in line with the "big boys" !

Down here in the ST George, UT phone book they are listed under car washing and detail. Just called a guy to come out to do ours and he charges, $2.00 a foot and $10.00 extra for the roof. He will also wax it, but didn't ask the price. Most campgrounds have a bulletin board and there is usually a few cards on it for people to call that will do it. Most of them haul a water tank with them.

Well, 6 hours later, the Monty shines like a new dime. Roof, wash and wax, etc. My wife and I worked together on it (bless her!) and I'd say it's worth $350.00!

On my last trip through OR in July, I stopped at Gordy's Truck Stop just sound of Bend on Hwy 97. There is a truck was right next to it. $1 a foot. They did my TV and 5er for $55. Just a wash, however, they did a great job, especially on the front cap of the 5er. Anytime I go through there, I am going to stop and get it washed. I talked to them about the pressure hoses before they started and they were aware of the potential problems and backed off somewhat to ensure there were no decal problems. Write it down and go there when you are in the area.

With a long handled brush, a bucket of soap, a long hose and my favorite helper, we washed both the LNRNGR and TONTOW in about 2 hours. Guess, I'd have to say we paid ourselves $87.50 an hour. Can't complain about the quality of the workmanship!
Ok, now on to that waxing part.

? LNRNGR ? That's not bad wages for washing, but as you indicated waxing may be a different story, lol.

Since you saved that much, how much are you giving to your wife?

She has the pleasure of my company,OLS. And a beautiful day in the sunshine, to boot. BTW, we used Thetford's RV wax. it's a wipe on / wipe off liquid, and it's the easiest wax I have used to date. I'm going to try it on the TV, too.

Brad, while I was in Ft Collins at Heron Lakes RV Park I used a service, Greg Hoffman's Mobile Wash service and he was reasonable and did a great job.

I like to wash it myself extendable brush, bucket, rag, and hose. That way I can keep up on the outside as far as the dings and dents area. The waxing part I usually take in steps. Over the coarse of a week I can get the whole rig done for the next 6 months. Doing this myself I can keep a running record of what needs maintained on a regular basis. For extended stays many campgrounds will allow washing once a month, you have to ask.
