Headed for Air Force Academy tomorrow

Leaving Santa Fe in the Am for 10 days at AFA FAMCDAMP near Colorado Springs. We'll post a "how goes it" report after a few days there. I hear it is a nice FAMCAMP...we'll see.

I didn't know that the Air Force Academy had a Famcamp. How exciting! We'll have to check that one out.

Didn't know it either in regards to FamCamp at the Academy will have to keep that in mind. We also will have to ck it out next time we are through there.

PJ, our son just left the AF after a six year tour in the Gulf and Korea (based out of Minot AB). Do we have any benefits, regarding these FamCamps, or not?

Initial report....Great place!!! Widely spaced sites, plenty big, easy access! Big firs /pines everywhere. About 5-8 min away from standard AF Base facilities.

No wi-fi or high speed modem, no cable TV. Quite adequate reception of local TV stations, and no big problem with Direct TV reception, but you may have a problem if you don't have a long cable and portable dish mount. Good civilian facilites about 15 min way, in C. Springs. Plenty to do in the "tourist" mode. Oh, yes...there are trains, now and again. Heard two or three last night..

Overall, solid B+ or A....

Dave, FAMCamps are for active duty personnel, DOD employees, and Retired Active Duty with a military ID. No family benefits for relatives of former active duty members.
