Now that's innovative thinking Brad. Louvered tailgate options and accessories besides Diamonds. I think Brad may be onto something here that is deserving of many more pages of options. Dhenry could even add MOC themed louvered tailgate add-ons to the MOC merchandise offerings. WOOOOHOOOO!!!!!

If you have a louvered tailgate, will the snow blow out the back end when it is full from a night storm and you are traveling down the highway?
If you are doing yard work and need to pick up a load of dirt, will the louvered tailgate assist you in dumping by driving fast in circles in the yard?
Is their a law against driving with a louvered tailgate when it is full of "BS," and is falling out all over the place? :-) (How do I add a picture smiley)

Bingo, I got caught with the spell check, it should of been "satire". Whow! some of this new technical data is really adding to the depth of this topic. Never thought of gas lift arms. Now if it had remote controled gas lift arms with auto lock feature?

Would you only need a "half gassed" lift arm for a louvered tailgate since it has only half the weight of a full tailgate?

hahahaha well now that I'm half gassed I thought I would expand on Bingos MOC merchandise idea before I get all the way gassed.
How about a new bumper sticker that gets applied to the tailgate below the "V" that says "Montana goes here", or "Big Sky Socket", or "Reserved for Montaineer" or something like that? Doug?

Waynem- After a careful study of State Laws, it is only against the law in specific States to carry "BS" in the back of a TV with a "louvered tailgate"! I won't mention any specific States but they could be some that are quite large in territory and have a lot of cattle in them! My State has no such law so I guess I can carry that "BS" anywhere I can and not have a problem with the county mounties or whoever! Another thought-- IF you enclosed the TV bed and had the louvered tailgate AND hauled that "BS" could you put a collector on the back of the louvers and convert the methane into a usable fuel to propel your TV? Inquiring minds want to know?

Rondo - so what you are saying is BS is a commodity in some states and must be hauled by commercial vehicles so the taxes get paid?

Well boys, since you are so fixated with your louvered tailgates, could I interest you in a special louvered tailgate coated with fools gold. That would really help those diamonds sparkle.-------------Oh my, what's come over me.

Correct-O-Mundo Brad! Just think if all States made it a commodity they could all be "louver louvers" and if they all started their own company for BS gas distribution they could all cut the tax base for their residents and save everyway but loose! They might even be able to cut the price of diesel for us po-folk!! Huh????!!!???

I think someone (help me out here Robbie) really needs to intercede again, somehow we have lost focus on louvered tailgates and the endless possibilities of MOC accessories for the same (that we should be requesting) and have wandered into another off-topic area. Now usually this doesn't have any impact on me, but, when we stray so much that we are contemplating hauling really smelly stuff around in the hopes of capturing naturally generated methane from the same through the louvers, I think we have introduced a really undesirable precedent. Now keep in mind, that I have no problem if you want to haul this stuff around, but be realistic on the possibilities. If you are going to capture the methane, at least use it as a gaseous supply to offset the propane heating costs associated with your rigs. We may have to restrict it to furnace usage that vents outdoors in the interest of not having to admit that we are cooking with ????????? Along the same lines, if you burn it as fuel in your truck, you risk the strong possibility of having to deal with packs of feral animals including dogs chasing you down the road trying to smell your rear louvers!! In the interest of half-heartedly trying to stay on topic, I just spent the last hour doing in-depth detailed internet research on diamonds and louvered tailgates. Sorry Carol, the only matches on the search engines I got had something to do with diamond plating. I don't think this diamond plating would make very attractive jewelry.

Sorry Bingo.
I know what diamond plating is. Nope, not gonna do good jewelry with that stuff. It is fine for trucks, but not for the chicks.
By the way, HOW much does diamond plate weigh per square foot?? Anyone know?? Would that have any concerns?? On those louvered tailgates??
Are we on topic yet???
ON EDIT, this made a new page, number 38?? ooops, is that on topic???
The DEVIL made me do it.

Darn, Carol got 38!
Bingo, I see no problem with your hypothesis providing you live in Herford, Texas. Lots of pickups down there.....and plenty of ripe material just for the pickin' up.
Might be a good theme for a mini-rally....let's see, we could call it the "Louvers of MOCery" rally.
....hmmm, what would be a good inexpensive door prize?

And the entertainment of choice would be
COW PATTIE BINGO!!!!!!
Now, that's funny right there, I don't care who you are!!!!!!! Of course the cow pattie bingo would have to incorporate trucks with louvered tailgates.
HA HA HA,
Bingo

You could just go to Big R and buy a corral gate. Wouldn't take much mods to fit. Chrome it, reverse it, put diamonds on it, whatever................

Does a corral gate have a notch to clear the hitch? But, I do like the idea. I've always wanted to raise a critter or two for meat and milk but it didn't fit in with the fiver life style. maybe with a corral gate back there I could keep a couple of calves in the bed. I just see their little noses sticking through the louvers. I wonder if the straw would stay put. Could be a real conversation piece when we checkin to the KOA.

Good idea Dave! I could sell you a couple of calves if you like and the methane gas from the doo-doo from the calves could power that GMC you have Dave! Of course you'd have to put some modification on that louvered gate to catch the methane!

Make up yer mind Wayne, full of gas or half-gassed will have major economic implications with regards to our louvered tailgate methane recovery projections!! Cannot believe not one response regarding louvered tailgate equipped trucks playing cow patty bingo. This thread is in dire need of the introduction of something????
