Galley sink

I noticed that when the covers are in place over the sinks for a day
or so and then when I take the cover off I am getting a very unpleasant smell coming from the sink. It is not the gally tank smell , but the mildew kind of smell. Have any of you had a similar experience and what to do to prevent this? I know that when the covers are off there is no smell , but I like to have one sink cover to extend my counter space.

Believe there was some mention of dumping a little bleach down the drains, I think Sue "Parrothead" brought that up as a possible solution.

Good luck

Consider buying one of those roof vent "thinges" that you can buy at CW. Others buy them for their black water vents but we have them on all 3 roof vents. They work.....

Ours smelled almost like sewer gas. Someone (Parrothead?) suggested bleach in the trap, like Carol mentioned. I poured bleach down each drain and let it sit for several hours. We had no more problem with the smell.

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

I always make sure that both sinks are cleaned and dried b/f putting the covers on. I have never had a problem with any smell.

I get a smell too but it's more of a fiberglass resin, or plastic smell. Haven't noticed a sewer, or mold smell.
