3400RL Water Pump VERY Noisy

Another moderately annoying problem I have had with my new 3400RL is a very noisy water pump. I've been dancing around with my dealer on this, but I actually spoke with a machanic there who knew what I was talking about, and he suggested that the design of the flexible tubing coming from and/or going to the pump directly contacts an interior hollow wall making the noise an RV pump normally makes much louder. Anyone had this problem, or heard of this ?

Thanks,
BTW I really do love my 3400RL, just a few annoying problems that have to yet be worked out.

Kent, welcome to the forum. Do not feel alone. This is a very common problem and has been addressed on this forum before so you might find some info by doing a search. We have covered our tubing with the foam plumbing insulation as much as possible and the noise is greatly reduced. I think this will require an owner fix rather than a dealer fix. I do not understand why the manufacturers don't change their design to reduce this annoyance.

Good call, Judy.
Kent, you can remove that White cover from it's location outside the pump. You have to remove the screws holding it in place, then bend it around and out. Many of us have placed vibration isolators under the pump, (Rubber) and wire tied the lines away from any surfaces. While you are in there, wire tie the wires away from sharp edges, there are Two unused mounting ears for the furnace that are are really sharp, you can just remove them, or tape over them.
Some have wrapped the pump with Fiberglass insulation.
For a nice added touch, install a small tank with an air bladder in to it, a Tee is fine, this will both cushion the impulse action of the pump, and give a little reserve. You can get small ones from Camping World, or larger ones from Lowe's.
Good luck, and I welcome you also.

Kent,
This common problem with the water pumps. I bought a expensive shurflow extreme 5.7 pump which is little bit quieter,
but not perfect. I also installed silencing kit which is two pieces of the flexible tubing. As I said it is little better.

A common indeed. I have never heard a quiet pump from the factory.
Try getting to your water pump in a 33FKDS Mountaineer TT. The darn water pump is underneath a chest drawer sealed with screws (and I do mean sealed).

Hope the 3400 fiver is easier to work on.

Ozz: You are the man, when it comes to fixing things, at least that's my opinion. What kind of rubber grommets do I need to isolate the water pump and where can I get them?
