Brake controller suggestions.

My Tekonsha P3 controller went out after 4 years of service. The display is backlit but nothing comes up when I push any of the buttons. This controller is supposed to have a lifetime warranty but when I contact Cequent they told me to go to the dealer where I bought it and get a replacement. I contacted Camping World where I bought the unit and they told me the warranty guide says to go directly to Cequent. I called them and opened a warranty case and was told they would call me back, I never received that callback so I am about ready to give up on Tekonsha.
Any suggestions for a new brake controller, I have only owned Tekonsha but will not purchase that brand again?

I think your problem is worth a letter to Trailer Life for help.

To answer the question I use TruControl® Brake Controllers by Hensley MFG.

I had a Prodigy 1 that died, purchased a new Prodigy 2, then realized about the Life Time Warranty. Took the old one into CW with my receipt and got a refund for the new unit with no questions asked.

I went with maxbrake controller http://www.brakecontroller.com/maxbrake.htm

This controller connects to your master cyl. check out wed site. The only problem is they are $349.00 but work great.

I was looking at the TruControl® Brake Controllers, do you have the Silver or Gold and how do you like it?

I have the "SILVER". For I could not justify the digital information for the cost. The Bars give me the information I need.

I have a Prodigy break controller I used before we purchased our Ford with an integrated break controller...the Prodigy did a very good job and I believe still is in working order. I do not have the bracket or wiring harness that goes with it, but both are pretty cheap and should be available through CW. If you are interested, send me a PM with your address and I will send it to you...no charge. Michael

Wow, thank you very much.
Fedex showed up at my door looking for a package, turns out Cequent sent them out to pick up my brake controller. So we shall see if they replace it, sounds like they will.

Sounds like they are going to take care of you. As for your original question I have a Prodigy in the Ford. Been very pleased with it. Bought a MaxBrake for the Volvo. If I ever have to replace the Prodigy in my Ford I will put in a MaxBrake. As good as the Prodigy is I definitely prefer the MaxBrake.
