Frame related question

I was thinking of the Lippert suggestion/warning of no more than 200# on the rear frame.
Wouldn't a rear kitchen with it's associated weight surpass the extra 200#? Assuming the frames are the same, and I would bet they are. I know you have to subtract the weight of the cabinets in 3400RL, add the kitchen cabinets, appliances...like that.
Maybe it is the stress on the attachment points they are worried about. Just thinking.

Ozz, saw a Montana with a full-size motorcycle sitting on a rack on its tail end...I have wondered why Keystone even bothers adding the "hitch" to the rear end of our fifth wheels????

Bowing to public/buyers pressure, with the compromise of a smaller receiver hitch. I guess they know that if a person can hook up whatever they desire with the 2" receiver, they will not stop with a grill and 2 bikes. They will be pulling the family Hummer.

Can't argue with that, Ozz, but right after we took our Montana home, I started looking for something to plug into that "small" hitch on the back. Of course, I was looking for a carrier or bike rack that met the weight and hitch size restrictions. I was not able to find anything with the 1 1/4 inch hitch. Now I know they are out there, just not as readily available as the 2 inch size. So, decided to not get anything. With the long bed truck, we have plenty of storage space in the back of our truck...works for us. Speaking of the "family Hummer," saw a class-A towing a travel trailer north on I-75 yesterday...Camilla said it must be the guestroom for the grandchildren!

Ozz, the "weak link" in that setup would appear to be the torque on the smaller shaft...although, in the 300lb range I don't think it would be an issue...do you?

It is designed for the weight, that smaller section is solid steel, so it will be equal to the larger receiver's capacity on the attached end. The weakest portion would be the small receiver, mounted to the frame so you wouldn't want to exceed that.

When we were in goshen in 09 I saw a 2500 chevy pulling a 35+' 5er towing a jeep grand cherokee on the toll road in front of the rv museum. Even I won't try that.

Bobby, do you have any problems backing with the trailer you have? Is it one of those 'tracking' trailers that the wheels turn when backing?

Ozz it is a standard 10'x6' utility trailer. I try not to have to back up much you can if you are in a tight I just be real careful. I am home for the winter so I am getting ready to build a new one. some nice out of work folks that needed some meds broke in my shop and borrowed it along with Lawn tractor, large air comp,weed eater,hedge trimmers all gas, and some small tools. I just know they are going to bring them back. On the bright side they did have something to haul the stuff on. around here so many UTs get stolen the HO ins Co only pays 500.00 for them I had 900.00 in mat.They took the 500 for deductable. sorry guys for the long rant but it still gets to me.

Yup! That's what I have for the 2 bicycles. Definitely within the 200 lb weight limit. Works well BTW!

Jay, I have the exact opposite adapter for my invention of the carrier/bike rack combo. Mine inserts fully into the 2" receiver-flush.
